Our love for cars is greater than any mother could give her offspring. We hold them tightly to our bosom, feed them, then drive the backside off them down the back streets of London. Hard.
One of our favourite 'whips' to date is the Peugeot 207 GTi THP 175 Octane edition. It's a hot hatchback with more high-tech gadgets than CES and more performance than is good for the state of your licence.
Rain-sensitive wipers? Check. 30GB hard drive for stashing your music? Check. Sat-nav? Yup. Auto-directional headlights? Fo' sho'. In-dash mobile phone system? Yes! It even has its own sunglasses, or as Peugeot would say, an athermic windscreen to reflect UV light.
The engine, co-built by BMW, produces 175 ponies so it'll go from 0-60mph in 7.1 seconds and top out at 137mph -- great news if you've just remembered you've left the iron on at home.
We've just tested this bad boy to within an inch of its life in our latest Car Tech video. If you're into technology and fast cars you really can't afford to miss it. Press play and get involved! -Rory Reid

Great vid Rory, that car looks like it can shift. I wonder if the yanks will complain about this one not being big, brash and American.
AnonymousWed 30 January, 2008 11:04pm
pretty darn skippy Rory. Nice !!!!
AnonymousWed 30 January, 2008 11:22pm
Rory you the MAN. That is one big bad mama. You miss something important. Where are B****s.
AnonymousThu 31 January, 2008 12:30am
Give back the car Rory!!!
AnonymousThu 31 January, 2008 10:35am
u should go on top gear not lame fith gear
AnonymousThu 31 January, 2008 4:41pm
Before you Brits get a hernia from slapping Rory on the back you should know that the technology is old. If Rory had bothered to review an American car (which may I remind you is the best) he would have found out that on most American Cars (the best in the world) all that tech comes as standard.
AnonymousThu 31 January, 2008 4:46pm
Rory I dont want to rain on your parade. After all the Brits have lost so much, like an Empire for instance? but that is so 20th century. HA! HA!HA!HA
AnonymousThu 31 January, 2008 4:59pm
Rain sensitive wipers? additional headlights? you Brits are so easily pleased. What about size? where do you stow the soccer gears? what about summer cookouts? What about the kids? What about carpool? This might be something to consider when you come out of your happy space with yourself. Unbelieveable that you guys were once leaders of the free world. Drive American.
AnonymousThu 31 January, 2008 5:03pm
Three word for yo'all at CNET. American Car Rocks. Rory you S**k.
Rory ReidThu 31 January, 2008 5:21pm
Some of you really aren't very bright, are you?
AnonymousThu 31 January, 2008 5:56pm
CNET staff and management shame on you for condoning irresponsible journalism. How can your readers make an unbiased and informed choice when all Rory is giving them is all cars British. How about giving your readers American made cars? Your continued disrespect for the American automobile industry is not doing anything for our special relationship. Have you thought of that?
Nick HideThu 31 January, 2008 6:05pm
Peugeots are French.
AnonymousThu 31 January, 2008 7:13pm
If this wasn't so serious it would be laughable. You Brits have no sense of loyalty. I am soo glad we dumped your tea in the Charles River. You have the b***s to admit that you chose French cars over American cars? Traitors.
AnonymousThu 31 January, 2008 10:37pm
Oh my God, Americans are funny when they're high on stupidity. You guys are so utterly backward it's hilarious. I'm neither British or American and it's comments like I've read on here that make me hate America even more. No wonder Bush was elected when such utter children are given the right to vote. This video is interesting, entertaining and informative. The car was neither made in my country, nor Britain, nor America. Trust a mis-informed self-righteous country's residents to make such idiotic comments. Pathetic.
AnonymousThu 31 January, 2008 10:40pm
why does america embarass itself so much? great vid. im ashamed to admit im american, but keep up the good work.
AnonymousThu 31 January, 2008 11:47pm
...who gives a crap where the car comes from? Some people have way too much time on their callused hands.
AnonymousThu 31 January, 2008 11:49pm
This car is a whole load of fun. I can say this with confidence because unlike the critics here, I own one.
The ride is hard, and it picks up a fair bit of road noise, but it's worth it.
In with today's focus on being "green" and our UK fuel prices, it's also worth noting that this clever engine can give 48 miles to the gallon if driven carefully on the motorway. Our American friends will eventually come to realise the value of that ;-)

Back in your box, colonial!
AnonymousFri 1 February, 2008 11:56am
How funny you little Americans are. That you actually believe that you make good cars, how I pity you.
B-Boy BeaumontFri 1 February, 2008 12:00pm
You crazy people, brandishing your ignorance about! It's embarrassing! Why is a review of a French car reason to start espousing American cars over British? You lose!
AnonymousFri 1 February, 2008 3:22pm
To my British friends. This is what Rory is denying you. A class motor that is KICKASS. The Forf ShelbyGT500. You deserve to know that there is another world outside of Britain that produces much better motors than what he is reviewing. You should revolt now. Let CNET know that you deserve better.
AnonymousFri 1 February, 2008 3:38pm
Stop beating up on us Americans. We are only demanding our fair share. Someone has to take a stand. Your criticisms are unjustified. The American car industry is the pioneer and deserve kudos. Rock on America
AnonymousFri 1 February, 2008 4:33pm
The Ford ShelbyGT500 for anyone interested is Ford's latest innovative sports car. Yes it is a KICKASS ride. The peugeot gets a H*** ON just hearing the name Ford Shelby.
AnonymousMon 4 February, 2008 5:31pm
Outstanding! great job Rory. S***w the Yanks.
AnonymousMon 4 February, 2008 5:33pm
Rory you are HOT!!. You were made for that car. Marry Me?
Rory ReidMon 4 February, 2008 5:45pm
Umm... OK. Let's do this
Rory ReidMon 4 February, 2008 5:54pm
Wait.. you're not American are you?
AnonymousMon 4 February, 2008 8:48pm
DUH: reality check dude. Do not hold your breath. You dont do American cars - You dont do American women
Rory ReidTue 5 February, 2008 11:32am
That's what you think.
AnonymousTue 5 February, 2008 5:28pm
Please, cut the lovefest c***p. get on with what's important. You should be reconsidering your continued insult to one of the major world motor industry. Your countrymen are so consumed with jealousy that they cant see the woods for the trees.
AnonymousTue 5 February, 2008 5:37pm
I am a proud American woman, I proudly drive only American cars SUV's to be exact. Please do not sell yourself short by offering marriage to Rory. Where is your sense of pride? loyalty? He has consistently refused to review our cars, what do you think he is going to do to our women? Believe me you wont get a good review.
AnonymousTue 5 February, 2008 6:15pm
Rory I am guessing that your car reviews are not based on your knowledge of cars but on the technology that comes with the cars. Why dont you go to the mother of all technology. Every gimmick every toy conceivable are included in American cars. You are missing out on what could be your greatest review ever. Dont sell yourself short review american cars.
AnonymousTue 5 February, 2008 7:18pm
Cnet, I demand that you stop this madness immediately. Rory cannot be allowed to do American women. I hope he will be reprimanded for threatening to do our women and not our cars. He should keep his mind and his little man on relevant issues.
AnonymousSun 10 February, 2008 3:07am
Rory you look so FLY. The car blows
AnonymousSun 10 February, 2008 3:11am
Rory you are so totally rocking that car
AnonymousWed 11 June, 2008 5:58pm
Looking at this, Im almost ashamed to call myself American...For the record, not all Americans are as ignorant and inconsiderate as some of the people here.
Get a life...it's just a car review~~~ And who are you kidding...America makes great products, but cars is not one of them. Being patriotic does not mean praising everything just because it's American...we should look at what others are doing better than us and adapt. And please educate me...which American car comes standard with all the equipment shown in this video??? I live in America and I've seen no such American car.
AnonymousSun 24 August, 2008 6:35pm
Nice car, but a bit disappointing to have a 6 min 34 min video where 6 mins is spent discussing gadgets and only 30 seconds supposedly "driving" the car.
P.S. You Americans should zip it shut, a good French hot hatch will whip the majority of your straight-line-only gas guzzling crud on twisty roads.
AnonymousWed 3 September, 2008 8:30pm
As much as I do like the Americans bar from the odd mintority of stupid ones, (like every country has to be fair) I will say that the reality is that most American cars just don't work in the UK car market, their too big, and uncompromised on UK B-roads and twisty sections and therfore its up to other car manufacturers, (aka French and European ones) to exploit this. Hot hatches are meant to be more economical, more refined and practical than bigger performance cars but still fun and engaging and thats why the sell so well over here. However... Ford! They make some of the best hot hatches in the UK to date and are American owned so there everybodies happy! :-)
