Panasonic's LXD60 range: dual-HDMI equipped LCDs

Televisions

Despite its vocal support for plasma technology, Panasonic is covering its bet in the flat-screen market with the launch of the LXD60 LCD range. It's set to release 26-inch and 32-inch LCD screens this month, with a 23-inch model to follow in May. The LXD60 range is fully HD Ready, with integrated digital tuners and dual HDMI inputs. Pretty impressive stuff, and the dual-HDMI inputs compete with Toshiba's latest 'WLT58' range.

If you're looking at buying an LCD TV today, what else makes these new Panasonic TVs worth waiting for? For starters, they have a high 1,200:1 contrast ratio, the new V-Real picture processing technology and an 8ms LCD panel response time. There's also an automatic light sensor that adjusts the picture brightness, and the Active Light Control system adjusts the LCD backlight in real time to individual areas of the picture to boost the perceived contrast.

The new LXD60 range looked particularly stylish when we were treated to a first look at them yesterday, and they'll be one of the first 'next-gen' LCDs to arrive before new models from Toshiba and Samsung. With the World Cup and Sky HD approaching, expect the LCD market to become an even fiercer battleground: Crave will be in the field to bring you the latest action as it happens. -GC
