Sharp LCD: who needs plasma?
If Crave was ever granted three wishes, we'd be chomping at the bit for two high quality, beautifully designed LCDs to take home (world peace would come first, of course). Yet without even having to rub some sort of mystical lamp, the genies at Sharp have made our wish come true.
The latest of Sharp's world-conquering panels is going to give the competition something to think about. It's expensive, certainly, but so is a swimming pool full of Bentleys covered in whipped cream, and the Sharp is a lot less sticky. The LC32GD1E is raw, unbridled performance sitting behind a gorgeously sleek design. Thank the AV gods that vendors are finally starting to fit Freeview tuners into their LCDs. Perfection, thou art looking Sharp.
While we won't get to keep the Sharp LCD forever, our initial take is that it gives First Class treatment all the way. If you've got £2,300 making your wallet too fat, if you've sorted yourself out with silk toilet paper, and your butler is heading down to 'Rods anyway, then this is the television that deserves a place on your wall. Meanwhile, we'll fantasise about an 80-inch version. Expect a full review soon. -GC
