Philips 23iF9946: it's a wireless world
Tags: stream, wireless, cable, package
In a few years you'll be able to show someone a network cable, and be met with a blank stare. "Yeah, I remember... that's how computers used to talk to each other," your companion will finally muster. "But that was back in the day, before cars ran on water and we had robots to clean us."
Thanks to Philips, we're moving closer to this liquid future with its new wireless TV. It uses 802.11g, the fastest wireless technology available, to directly stream your PC's multimedia content and display it on the screen. This includes music, photos, videos, games, and even content from the Internet such as movie trailers and music videos. Thankfully, all the major formats are supported too, including DivX video, JPEG photos and MP3 music, and the 802.11g technology is even fast enough to stream DVD-quality video.
Philips is famous for its LCD picture quality, and the 23iF9946 is no different. It uses the company's Digital Crystal Clear and Active Control Plus picture systems to remove artefacts from analogue video, while a built-in FM radio and Virtual Dolby sound round off a particularly nice package. The 23iF9946 is available now, at around £1,200. -GC
