Vinepeek gives six-second glimpses of Vine app

Twitter's Vine app has only just launched, and already my feed is full of people uploading their six-second masterpieces. A new site called Vinepeek has also launched and provides an interesting glimpse into what everyone is sharing on the service.

In case you missed it, Vine is an app that launched last week and lets you record short video clips and upload them to Twitter.

Firing up Vinepeek, I saw someone trying out a new coffee machine, someone singing in a pretty dire karaoke session, a woman drinking a glass of wine in the passenger seat of a car, and a dog on a sofa. It's nothing Oscar-worthy, but interesting nonetheless.

What is mesmerising about it though is the way it goes on and on, clip after clip. Because they're so short, the videos are over almost as soon as they've begun, so you can put up with the duff ones quite easily. They're uploaded in real time too, so you can see what people are doing exactly as they're posting. Try it, you'll be hooked.

It's not officially associated with Twitter or Vine, so who knows, it could be pulled down at any time. I don't want to be held responsible for anything dodgy posted on there, so have a gander at your own risk, but it seemed like good family-friendly fun when I gave it a look.

Vine is about as simple to use as it gets. Just hold your finger on your phone screen to start filming, and a bar fills up along the bottom of the screen. When six seconds have passed the bar is full, and your masterpiece is complete, ready to be shared.

Have you been playing around with Vine? What do you make of it? Let me know in the comments, or on our Facebook page.
