Valentine's Day celebrated in lovey-dovey Google doodle

Love is in the air today, as Google celebrates love in all its forms for Valentine's Day. A charming animation greets lovers everywhere, including a gaggle of loved-up couples of all shapes and sexes.

The animation shows a young man using Google to woo -- woogling? -- a skipping girl. And failing. She doesn't want any of the things he's found using Google, which is a curious message for the search giant to send out. She doesn't want a flower, a balloon animal or a magic top hat -- in fact, she just wants someone to skip with. D'awww.

The doodle ends with a message of tolerance and acceptance: man and woman, man and man, cat and dog, alien and spaceman -- all forms of love and marriage are honoured this Valentine's Day.

The animation was created by animator Michael Lipman, soundtracked by Tony Bennett singing Cold, Cold Heart.

Previous action-packed doodles include the stunningly intricate tribute to author Stanislaw Lem, a pumpkin-packed Halloween video and the epic 8-bit ode to Queen legend Freddie Mercury.
