But… but… it's bigger on the inside than on the outside! Follow in the footsteps of Clara, Rose and many a companion before them by stepping into the TARDIS in a treat for Doctor Who fans on Google Maps.
A familiar blue police box has stood outside Earls Court underground station since 1996, and all you have to head there in Street View in your browser to find this Doctor Who Easter egg and see inside the TARDIS.
To explore the TARDIS console room, find Earls Court tube, switch to Street View, and click on the double arrows on the street just outside the TARDIS doors. Then -- Geronimo! -- you'll materialise inside the time machine. Once inside you can move all the way around the console and time rotor.
The TARDIS takes off again in November when Matt Smith returns as the Doctor for the 50th anniversary special episode alongside companion Jenna-Louise Coleman, former Doctor David Tennant and guest star John Hurt. Then at Christmas, Smith regenerates into new star and 12th Time Lord Peter Capaldi.
Meanwhile the humble police box is making a comeback in Leeds with Doctor Who-style phone boxes with free Wi-Fi.
Some of our favourite easter eggs, or hidden features, include the YouTube's Missile Command game and VHS mode, and useful warning from Google Maps warning when seeking directions from The Shire to Mordor.
