Palm Pre launch centre

Announced in January at CES 2009, the Palm Pre's quickly became one of the most anticipated smart phones of the year, viewed as a potential iPhone killer and the basis for Palm's comeback. After six long months, it will go on sale in the US on 6 June for $200 (£130) with a two-year contract and after a $100 (£65) mail-in rebate. It's expected to become available in the UK in time for Christmas with O2.

Our US cousins at CNET News have just got their hands on one. Check out our photo gallery to explore the hardware and software behind all the hype, and keep your eyes peeled for our imminent review.
