Starting today, plucky Britons with a dream can make that dream come true by creating their Kickstarter project -- just click on the 'Start a new project button' on the Start page and select UK as your country.
British projects go live on 31 October. When the service is ready, you'll receive an email encouraging you to hit the launch button -- then sit back and watch the money roll in.
Kickstarter is the popular crowdfunding website that allows you to post your idea and accept donations to make it happen. Projects cover a broad spectrum, like a book you plan to write, a gadget you think will make life easier or a business you want to start, or anything you can think of.
Anyone can donate to make the project happen, and anyone can choose how much they want to pay. Each project has different tiers of payment, with higher donations earning bigger rewards.
UK-based projects will be listed alongside all the other Kickstarter projects, regardless of their country of origin. Prices will be listed in pounds sterling, but potential backers from foreign climes will see an approximate conversion rate. Kickstarter charges a 5 per cent fee to successfully funded projects, while projects that don't hit their funding goal aren't charged anything.
Have you backed anything on Kickstarter? What's the best project you've seen? And what's your idea that's going to make you a Kickstarter millionaire? Tell me your thoughts in the comments or on our Facebook page.
