Google and Microsoft dig deep for Haiti earthquake appeal

The tech industry's major players have responded quickly to the crisis in earthquake-stricken Haiti, pledging millions of dollars in aid and services. Google has pledged $1m to the relief effort, updated its satellite imagery of the region and set up a page for donations, while Apple has set up a donation system in its US iTunes Store. Microsoft has pledged over $1m in cash and in kind and said it will match employee donations too, a move mirrored by Intel.
