It was already the most liked video on YouTube, but Psy's Gangnam Style has become the site's most viewed clip of all time, The Verge reports.
The insane Korean pop video has a whopping 814,358,247 views. Even if you're a bit sick of it by now, the good news is it's toppled Justin Bieber's Baby from the top spot. The baby-faced Canadian pop moppet's video has 804,542,697 views at time of writing.
Gangnam Style became the most liked YouTube video of all time back in September. Posted on 15 July, it now has almost 5.5 million likes.
The song is taken from Psy's sixth studio album, so I must've missed the first five. The phrase "Gangnam style" refers to the Gangnam district of Seoul, which Psy has likened to Beverly Hills in California -- ie the people are trendy and hip. Or trying to be, at least. Psy claimed in an interview to be poking fun at people claiming to be from Gangnam, with his horsey dance routine (and everything else about the song) completely unconcerned with being hip.
"People who are actually from Gangnam never proclaim they are -- it's only those posers and wannabes that put on these airs and say that they are 'Gangnam Style' -- so this song is actually poking fun at those kinds of people who are trying so hard to be something that they're not," Psy said in an interview with CNN.
Do you think Psy will be a one-hit wonder? Will another video ever exceed 814 million views? Let me know what you reckon in the comments, or on Facebook.
