If music streaming isn't the future, we'll eat our own hands. With those kinds of stakes in play, it's no wonder that every Tom, Dick and Harry wants to get in on cloud-based streaming. The fantastic folk over at Music Ally report that Carphone Warehouse is the latest company to hop on the bandwagon with a service called My Hub.
My Hub grants you 2GB of free storage, which you can use to backup all your music, storing it safely in the welcoming softness of the cloud. Files that have been backed up can then be played back via any device with a Web connection, including the iPhone, thanks to the My Hub app, as pictured.
Sounds pretty clever. Music Ally reports that the My Hub app popped up earlier today on the iTunes App Store, but has subsequently been taken down, with Carphone Warehouse saying the initial posting was only a test, rather than the official launch.
All highly mysterious. We're keen to get our hands on this app, and we're curious to know exactly how quick and convenient backing up and playing back music actually is. If it does prove to be incredibly simple it could rival services such as Spotify, which stream music from the cloud, but don't offer any kind of backup for files you already have floating around on your hard drive.
