iTunes 9.2 has arrived, ready to mate with the iPhone 4. Apple has also unveiled an assortment of changes to its cloud-based MobileMe subscription service, including an app that will wipe your phone.
The 9.2 upgrade prepares iTunes for iOS 4, the next version of Apple's mobile operating system. When the upgrade is pushed to your phone on 21 June, iTunes will be ready for you to organise your apps into folders.
You'll also be able to sync ebooks and PDFs with the iBooks app on your iPhone or iPod touch. Meanwhile, behind the scenes there are fixes for forty security issues, and tweaks to speed up scrolling and syncing.
MobileMe now has its own app for your iPhone or iPod touch. If you lose your phone, you can borrow a friend's and fire up the app to locate, lock and, if necessary, wipe your erstwhile iPhone. Previously, you'd have to do all this from a computer. Anyone can download the app, but using it requires a MobileMe subscription, which costs £60 per year.
The MobileMe Mail Webmail portal has had a substantial update, too. It now supports multiple email addresses, so you can read and send email for all your accounts, and not just your MobileMe address. There are new widescreen and compact views similar to the iPad mail app. It also adds single-click archiving, a formatting toolbar and SSL security.
