Android 2.0 Eclair SDK unwrapped

Software

Google has released the software developer kit for the next major revision of its mobile operating system -- Android 2.0, codenamed Eclair. Eager devs can get to work on apps that make use of officially announced new features such as multi-touch and Bluetooth 2.1, while the rest of us can look forward to a unified inbox, better camera controls and more accurate typing. CNET News has the full story: Google releases Android 2.0 SDK.

Update: HTC tells us Hero owners can expect to see Eclair on their Teflon-tastic phones, but they'll have to be patient. "Because Eclair is a significantly enhanced release, it will require some time to update Sense for this new version of the Android OS," says HTC.

We're waiting for confirmation from Vodafone as to whether the HTC Magic will get the same treatment.
