Innovation -- is there anything more important in technology? The question of innovation has certainly divided opinion upon the release of the iPhone 5 -- but does a gadget have to have a projector and a 3D screen and laser beams shooting out of the top to be innovative?
And we discuss the aspects of the iPhone 5 launch most important to British phone fans: how will the 4G iPhone 5 work, how much will it cost, and is it worth it?
Plus we take a look at the new iPod touch and iPod nano, and the latest iOS 6 software.
Join the CNET UK team as we go five alive and discuss the new iPhone and the rest of the week's technology new, if we can think of any.
As the podcast was recorded just moments before the Nintendo Wii U announcement, Rich, Luke and Jason put their money where their mouths are with guesses at the price and release date for the Wii U -- with, it turns out, comically inept results.
Plus our trusty friend Otamatone says more with a well-chosen electronic honk than we ever could in his review of the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ200.
And we turn to you, tech-savvy listener, for your thoughts in the feedback section. Is the iPhone 5 the breakthrough you wanted? Would you buy one? And does Apple ever truly innovate?
Whether you're looking for help with a spot of tech support or just need to blow off steam about the issues getting you hot under the collar, leave us a comment below or on our Facebook page -- where you can mingle with like-minded gadget fans, and get a glimpse behind the scenes at CNET Towers.

you can see why a lot of people say cnet favour apple. The last 2000000 articles are about the iPhone and half of them are not even news worthy. Why didn't the S3 or the 920 get the same sort of coverage?

We just cover what our readers wants to read about, I am a WP7, and Apple is simply the most popular company we cover - more people read about a new iPhone than any other gadget on the site. The S3 is the only single phone that comes close, and we wrote plenty about that. Don't worry, normal service will resume once the excitement dies down. Hope you enjoy the podcast!

As with celebrity culture etc its a vicious circle. More people read about iPhone because the media flood the place with stories about iPhone. More read, more stories over and over.
Some articles have been a joke.
At one time it was new, there was excitement, but in the past 3 years Apple have taken people for a ride. The media storm they create is one of the tools they use to sell - they are excellent sales people.
This phone is just iPhone 4 S XL. 2 year old phone - even older OS - today.

Thanks for the reply Rich. I suppose I can put up with constant iPhone stories for one week every year. Podcast was funny as always although you shouldn't just take questions off Facebook as some of us don't use it. You should put up an article once a week where people can send in questions for the podcast.

Ranting about the expectation people have that Apple will "innovate" is all very well - but they specifically encourage this expectation, to the extent that they talk as if features other Operating Systems have had for years. Ooh innovative panoramic photos - just like Android. Ooh innovative 16:9 ratio - just like Android. Ooh innovative notifications - blah blah.
You're correct that the iPhone and the original iPad were innovative and, to a lesser extent, the iPhone 4. All others are iterations aimed at persuading existing customers to upgrade rather than jump ship. This is also exactly why the iPad Mini is being introduced - it's a response to the market. The big change at Apple is that it's now following where once it led.

To harsh with you copying jokes on Samsung, Samsung are making THE best phones on the market along with HTC. Im sorry but this is no longer the best phone. Its passed its day after the Iphone 4. It is now just a Good Phone, reliable and 'just works' as apple fans love to say... Not the best phone.
I work in a tech shop, with 60% of the people working in there using Samsung Android. Reason because they know its the best. A good 15% with Apple because its "Simple" i quote because i hate the lack of a back button. and the rest with other. Apple users are literally followers. If Next Year IPhone bring out the BEST phone with the most power performance non restricted etc i would bin my S3 or Note2.
But will they? No. Because there market are like Sheep, literally http://www.sheep101.info/flocking.html There follow blindly thinking it the best, when really its not. And the hardest part about arguing with Apple Users is that they 'usually' have no knowledge of technical details.
IPhone are not the best, there one of the best. THE best is definitely not an IPhone.

Everyone is complaining about apple replacing Google maps with Apples own map app on the new iPhone. But the real travesty is they've separated podcasts from the music/iTunes app and do not allow users to download podcasts directly to their phone if they opt to delete this horrendous podcast app. It was much easier for many many users to listen to all things audio trough the same portal. Why must we now switch to a seperate app to listen to podcasts? It's crazy - like Samsung suddenly saying you can watch sport on 1 TV, but if you'd like to watch news, you must get this seperate TV. Isn't technology supposed to be about choice and customization and ease of use? Apple has failed on all accounts.
