Comet sale, Fighting Fantasy and bionic hands in Podcast 313

Comet sale, Fighting Fantasy and bionic hands in Podcast 313

"He's more machine now than man," Obi-Wan Kenobi said -- and that sounds kinda cool to us. We're not talking about turning to the dark side, but we are fascinated by bionic hands.

And we're waxing nostalgic about Fighting Fantasy as we check out a new documentary on Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone, the men behind the legendary game books.

Join the CNET UK team as we turn to page 400 and roll the dice to discuss the Comet fire sale and the rest of the week's technology news. We assess the possibility of a Microsoft mash-up Xbox Surface gaming tablet, and lament the passing of our teenage years online chatting to girls we were too scared to talk to in real life as Microsoft Messenger is killed off.

And we turn to you, esteemed listener, for your feedback. Why are phone networks so stingy with data? Is it worth getting the Nexus 4 on a contract? And which is better: prawn cocktail or smoky bacon?

Whether your gadgets are playing up and you need some advice, or you've got an opinion to share about the technology issues of the day, leave us a comment below or have your say on our Facebook page -- it's full of folks who love gadgets as much as you do, plus you'll get oodles of behind-the-scenes glimpses at life at CNET Towers.

Hi,

A suggestion for the Kickstarter spot in the next podcast -http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1461411552/elite-dangerous.

I have fond memories of playing Elite on my old Beeb. Amazing that it was 22K in size. Smaller than many emails today!

+++++++1 for the suggestion above. Elite was one of the greatest games ever made and so ahead of its time its almost scary.

I must be losing the plot.... What is the correct RSS URL for the podcasts?

When I try: http://www.cnet.co.uk/feeds/podcasts

I get an Internet Server Error (HTTP 500) in Firefox and my iPhone app PodCruncher cant access it either....

Cheers,

James
