It looks like Nokia is playing right into Microsoft's hands - they've just lost a shed load of dosh and the value of the company will diminish as a result- then Microsoft buys them out at a bargain basement price?
Not excited about Windows anything because I exclusively use Linux. I've seen Windows 8, Metro etc. OK if you like a Lego interface I suppose but I only have bad memories of Windows - I just hate it and pity anyone who is compelled to use it. With Linux you have choice of Distro, then a range of Desktops to choose from - then you can configure the hell out of the rest of it.
The Nexus 7 needed to be feature rich because that is what many Android users look for.
iPhone users look for bling. The iPhone One, for example, sold because it was Apple. It was a nice interface to a phone that was devoid of some basic features.
I'm awaiting a Galaxy S3, SIM free. I rooted my HTC Desire so that I could clear enough space to install the apps that I wanted. I like to be in full control of my gadgets. I think I'll be happy with the S3 as-is for a while... then I might root it if an OS upgrade is not forthcoming or if I want to do something where rooting is a necessity.
