CNET UK Podcast 293: Microsoft Surface v iPad v Android

Three-way tablet war! With the arrival of the Microsoft Surface and Surface Pro, the big three are directly facing off in the world of slates. Will Microsoft's Surface, Apple's iPad or Google's Android triumph in tablets?

Join the CNET UK team to thrash out this question and many others as we update our software with the latest news and opinions. We discuss the news that today's Windows Phones won't get the next big update, Apple has been ordered to fork over its iGotten gains, and Wayne Rooney has had a hair-raising run-in. Plus we point you in the direction of the cool stuff on CNET UK this week, including the week's Phone News.

Luke swears allegiance to the Smart TV Alliance, Andy finds the new-look Swype is just his type, and Rich checks out Windows Phone 8. But which bit of kit claims the Crave kudos and wins the day?

We turn to you, esteemed listener, for your feedback. Can the Surface establish Microsoft as a major hardware player? Has Microsoft done Nokia over? And what's all the fuss about with NFC?

Whether your gadgets are playing up and you need some advice, or you've got an opinion to share about the technology issues of the day, leave us a comment below or have your say on our Facebook page -- it's full of folks who love gadgets as much as you do, plus you'll get plenty of behind-the-scenes glimpses at life at CNET Towers.

I build my own computers, itx motherboards,so very small, using latest 1166 socket itel processors not atom, full low profile gforce graphics,so no weedy discrete rubbish, win8 pre-release, packard bell touch screen ,on a custom stand that reclines the touch screen at an angle suitable for touch .It is on all day ,win 8 turn off your pc after a while and starts on touch, the touch screen is smooth, the apps on win8 are getting better, ypu have an app now for anything you want.so any one can try out the experience that will be on a surface tablet you dont have to wait till october to get a feel, thats why MS haven't given out any free tabs to developers, because any one with a pc that has a touchscreen can get the win8 experience ,if you like it then you will buy a suface tablet, for me a full os on a tablet is a must not a toy like android or ios, and yes I HAVE BOTH COLLECTING DUST,my pc is 10 times better
