CNET UK Podcast 257: A tribute to Steve Jobs

We pay tribute to Steve Jobs, the charismatic and visionary mastermind behind Apple. Even if you've never owned an Apple product, you've almost certainly felt the influence of his vision.

It's a special podcast as we look back at the life and times of Steve Jobs, and the gadgets he oversaw in his time at Apple. It's no exaggeration to say the iMac, iPod, iPhone and iPad shook up the world of technology and transformed the way many of us do things, so we share our memories of how Apple changed the game time and again.

Andy tells of his love for the iPhone 4, Luke describes how the iPad changed his mind, Rich waxes lyrical about his first iMac, and Jason reveals how the iPod helped shape his career. We also take a look at some of Apple's less successful gadgets -- were the hockey puck mouse and the Newton rubbish, or just ahead of their time?

For more on Steve Jobs and a life steeped in technology, we've collected some of our favourite quotes from the man himself, our favourite Jobs moments on video, and moving tributes from fans, friends and rivals.

We also share some of your tributes and memories from Twitter and Facebook. And we close with some word of wisdom from Steve himself, from his famous address to students of Stanford University.

We'll be back next week with the usual round-up of technology news and reviews.

A lesson for any person who has been abandoned by their birth parents to be more positive. and to know that life is what ever they make of it.

Yawn, perhaps this will be the first podcast in ages that I don't bother listening to. The man wasn't a god, he didn't save anyone's lives, he just helped to create, invent and market luxury products which have resulted in nearly £80bn of cash sitting in Apple's bank. Young deaths are tragic and sad, and Steve's death is no exception. But let's not get carried away (as Obama appears to have done) with more Apple hype...
