Crave Podcast 93: Going back in time

Crave Podcast 93: Going back in time

CNET UK Podcast

In a jump to the left and a step to the right, we bring you a Crave Podcast time warp. After last week's episode fiasco, we're rocking back to Episode 92 this week. Keeping you on your toes with their history-altering abilities are Rory 'Biff' Reid, Kate 'McFly' Macefield, Shannon 'Doc Brown' Doubleday and a very special podcateer Jonny 'Former Podcast Sound Engineer Extraordinaire' Reeves.

By the time you listen to this podcast, Apple fanboys around the world will be fondling their new iPhone 3G handsets (or maybe not) -- and you can read our full 3G iPhone review. Being a cynical bunch, we wonder if O2's recent short supply of Apple's latest mobile was all just a bunch of hooey. Meanwhile, as the iPhone 3G reviews are rolling in from the US, Atari is throwing its cap into the ring, trademarking 'residential telephone apparatus composing telephones and telephone connecting units'. Um, Atari? Isn't that just a 'phone'? You might be a little late on that one.

Moving away from phones, the gang turns its collective nose up at Sniff, the friend-tracking mobile service, then have a Lively debate over Google's latest foray in the virtual world. They wonder if the iRobot Roomba could help to end the reces... 'difficult times'. A robot that cleans your floor! Why didn't Gordon Brown think of that?

Sure, this is an audio presentation, but what's a little video between friends? Kate introduces us to some of the wonders of our new video section, which Mr J Reeves helped to code. Let us know what you think of it in our forums, won't you?

Finally, we jump back to '92 for the Year in Tech for a little space walkin' and videophone talkin'. And if you thought that without Rupert, it would be a clean podcast, you would be wrong, wrong, wrong.

Right. That's sorted then. Right-click this link to download the MP3, or subscribe in iTunes, then have a nice chat with the other podcast fans in the Crave Podcast Lounge forum. Next week we'll jump back on track to Episode 94 and no one will eeeeever know. -Shannon Doubleday
