Crave Podcast 67: Live from Las Vegas!

Crave Podcast 67: Live from Las Vegas!

CNET UK Podcast

They say "what happens in Vegas should stay in Vegas" -- but that certainly isn't the case where Crave is concerned. The Podcast massive invaded the CNET.com stage -- normally reserved for Buzz Out Loud -- to deliver its own brand of geek humour to a shocked American audience.

We covered a shed-load of topics, including the death of HD DVD as a viable high-defintion format, Bill Gates' last address before stepping down at Microsoft, and Sony's change of heart on the issue of DRM.

Then we go into all the funky new products we've seen at the Consumer Electronics Show. Among our favourites was the Zoombak Pet Locator, which tracks your dog via GPS. Is it a good idea? Will other dogs laugh at your pooch if it has a massive sat-nav round its neck? Will it ruin its chances with the bitches?

We then go into the inaugural CNET.co.uk Crave Podcast Awards: CES Special. Ever seen CNET.com's Best of CES awards? Yes? Well it's nothing like that. Our categories included 'Most Pointless Product of CES 2008 -- Inspired by Windows ME', 'Biggest PR Disaster', the 'Crazier than Bat Poo Award' and the 'Should Have Stayed in Vegas but Didn't' award, which you simply have to hear.

No Crave Podcast would be complete without a WTF? section, and this one's a doozy. It's a so-called iTaser -- a taser with a built-in MP3 player. Honestly, we couldn't make this stuff up if we tried.

Last one to click the download link is an HD DVD fan. –Rory Reid
