Here, the secondary display is positioned to the side of the primary monitor, like a wing mirror. The image doesn't switch orientations automatically, so you'll need to fiddle with the accompanying software to get it to run in portrait mode.

Does anyone know if both monitors powered by the same graphics card, or do you need to two seprate DVI cables to this bad boy?

It could be useful. But I agree it would have been even better if it was a touch screen. I could see myself use if as a messenger window wile watching full screen videos.
