Windows Phone 7 video review

There's still a lot of work to do finishing off Windows Phone 7 Series before it's released to the world at the end of the year, but Crave managed to get hold of an early sample at Mobile World Congress to give it a bash.
Watch our video to see how Microsoft has completely re-designed the interface, with 'tiles' on the homescreen able to pull information from the Internet, such as Facebook updates, Flickr pictures and so on.
For anyone used to the old Windows Mobile, it's completely different from what went before. Watch Flora Graham tell you more in our video.

Great work with the hands on.
Good to see Microsoft going back to the drawing board & coming up with an OS that really seems to get how people use mobile devices to interact with other people, plus access data in the cloud. It also appears to adapt to what things are a high priority to you, showing the most important stuff front & centre.
Can't wait for the first handsets to be released. HTC HD3 anyone?

Ok I understand what Microsoft are trying to do but it just looks like they have put menus for menus for menus, simplicity is the key, I don't want to be scrolling through list after list to do something.
On another note, ZUNE!, who the hell has a Zune?? lol

From that video the OS looks like a collection of the worlds most irritating website flash commercials and banner ads. Keep it simple stupid.
Ive been using MS mobile OS's for 6 years now but I'm fed up .... looking at that tripe is not going to stop me jumping ship to Android

I've had Windows phones and Symbian phones and standard phones, my latest phone is HTC Hero - Android...
I have to say I'm impressed with the new Windows Mobile look - my only concern is it looks a bit boring, functional, simple to use by the looks, but a bit dull.... I always think mobiles should be 'fun' to use... I have to say Sense U.I. (HTC) coupled with Android is by far the best user experience I've had to date!

I have a ZuneHD. I knew nothing about zune for the longest time, but after fiddling with it I am convinced it is the most intuitive interface I have ever seen. Dont knock it till you try it. Most people who tease the Zune just dont know much about it and it is always fun to tease huge corporations. Navigation is fast, but the learning curve is this: it is so different that it takes a bit for your brain to realize how easy it actually is. Dont underestimate its simplicity, if it is like the Zune HD (sheer genius), all the nicety's are so subtle you will be finding pleasant surprises for weeks and looking at a video wont give you the half of it.
The transition animations have direction and give you a spacial sense of where you are rather then just an abstract. the 3D parallax effect gives illusion of depth. "I am not in the photos menue, I an just to the left and forward a bit"
Also the simplicity of the OS leaves your content to shine like a picture frame. the simpler something is, the more universal it will be. -should be right out of Apples playbook.
