According to those delightful folk at ZDNet UK, Vodafone has begun upgrading its mobile-broadband network to a theoretical maximum HSDPA download speed of 14.4Mbps. That's much faster than the theoretical maximum speeds offered by rival British operators, but you're still only likely to get between 1Mbps and 5Mbps in reality.
