Our favourite Apple joke is that the Mac has one game -- Marathon -- and Apple users are still playing it 250 years after it was first released. Horrifically, it seems we won't be able to use this time-honoured material much longer, as Apple is on its way to becoming one of the leaders in mobile gaming -- all because of the iPhone. It's not the only smart phone platform, of course, and Google's Android OS is building up a fine library of its own.
We've put together a list of the best value (free) games you can lay your hands on at the moment for Android. If you've got one of the rapidly expanding number of Android phones, this should help you get more out of it. You might find you're no longer bored on the train, and that time spent in the doctor's waiting room just flies by. You might also find that your battery lasts 17 minutes, and you get really angry when someone calls and the game resets. But we can't really help with that.

I like these games but my favourite is called "Wakattack"....it's a veeeery addicting game.. The free version has 20 levels put I purchased the full version and has 50 levels...its awesome and i'd recommend you to add it to the top games list!

It should be pointed out that upgrade branches in Robo Defence actually mean *more* than three different types of weapon, including flame turrets, mortars, anti-air cannons/missiles, mines, teleports, and so on.
I got robo Defence early, as soon as got my hands on a brand new G1. I'm still playing it now on my Galaxy S! Truly addictive, and with massive replay value - it is worth paying for the full game.

Parallel Kingdom is certainly one of the applications that come to mind. Half game and half 'pseudo' real-world experiment it lets you explore a game board modeled on top of Google Maps. Truly truly impressive. Certainly large enough to spend a few days playing :)

It is hard to find entertaining quality games for free one has to search a lot to get a hold on free cool gaming apps, blog posts are nice way to know about present hit apps. Ah, battleships - I tried very hard to find one that lets you play multiplayer, as sinking your mate's battleship if much more fun than beating he computer. Only one I could find is Battleship Sci-fi (there's a lite version that's free which plays over wifi. Thing is, its not a bad battleship game in itself - certainly better than the one you described in the article. You can reposition and re-orientate the ships and it's quite pretty and easy to play.
