When I was growing up I dreamt of a time when I could stay connected to the Internet at high speeds, all the time. Years later and the option to live in a constantly 'online' world is finally becoming an affordable possibility.
At home I'm hooked up to Be, which offers high-speed Internet with an unlimited cap and it's not that expensive. I can watch as much content on BBC iPlayer as I like -- unlike certain other ISPs out there, Be's 'unlimited' really means unlimited.
On my phone I've got Web'n'Walk with a 3GB monthly cap, which so far has been enough for my on-the-go browsing needs. But there's one part of the puzzle left and that's mobile broadband for my laptop, which I'd like to get using a USB dongle.
But what's the best deal on offer? 3, Orange, T-Mobile and Vodafone all have data dongles on offer. At the moment I think one of the best deals is with 3, which is offering a modem for free on a £15 monthly contract with a 3GB cap.
Altogether, the cost of being 'online' every second of the day racks up to £36.50 every month. In my opinion, that isn't bad -- especially considering most people paid about that for home broadband when it first came out a few years ago.
