Sony Xperia T is James Bond phone in Skyfall, TX leaks too

Q, meet T. The phones known as the Sony Xperia Hayabusa and Xperia Mint will be renamed as the Xperia TX and Xperia T when they go on sale -- and they're about to fall into the deadly hands of Britain's top secret agent in the latest James Bond film Skyfall.

Know Your Mobile reports that the Xperia Hayabusa, renamed the Xperia TX, sports a large 4.6-inch high definition 720p screen. It's a dual-core phone powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm S4 Snapdragon processor with 1GB of RAM. The unibody case measures 8.6mm thick.

And the Mint, redubbed the Xperia T, boasts a 4.3-inch screen, which is also 720p. You get 16GB of storage for your music, movies and more, or you can add a Micro SD card for extra legroom. A 1.5GHz Qualcomm S4 Snapdragon MSM8960 dual-core chip does the thinking, with 1GB of RAM.

It's the T that's reported to appear in Skyfall, the 23rd 007 film and the latest to star blond Bond Daniel Craig. Whether the Xperia T will be issued to Craig by new Q Ben Whishaw or wielded by another character is yet to be revealed: will Judi Dench check her M-mail? Will Ralph Fiennes play Angry Birds? Or will Javier Bardem use the Xperia T to call his hairstylist?

Word on the street is the T and TX will feature a 13-megapixel Exmor R camera. It's also heavily rumoured they'll use Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich software -- boo! Where's Jelly Bean? Jelly Bean is the latest version of Android, so I'd really expect to see it on any new phone.

What do you think of the Sony Xperia T and Xperia TX? Are they worthy Bond blowers? Tell me your thoughts in the comments or on our Facebook page.

i think everyone needs to calm down about these Android updates, especially tech journos . it will take a while for each manufacturer to adapt and test jelly bean along with their own skin on most of their devices before they can release it with no bugs. preferably it should be done within six months, any more and they might as well wait for the next update.
There is also the fact that they may well be better off producing a new phone entirely to maximize the updates full potential.

so we can expect to see more lovingly filmed scenes of Bond ostentatiously using Sony laptops and mobile phones, Ford Cars and Omega watches? A friend of mine used to do that job for real and his best phone was a massive old brick. They'd put a massive battery, an encryption unit and satphone kit into a huge mid 90s body which meant he was contactable anywhere, couldn't be listened into, had a battery that would last for a month and it all looked like a piece of old crap.

Just can't imagine Bond down at the carphone warehouse, asking 'does this one come in pink?'

I really hope they release a new phone with the same body as the Xperia Arc. I love the feel of that phone, it's both beautiful and feels great in your hand. Looking at the photo i assume it's the Xperia T that will get that design.

tuxtester// it was just an idea("I think"). i'm not paid by anybody. you can express your idea also if you want. WP8 is hot now, I think its time to imagine the question,"What if that's WP8?". If that's WP8, does it look cool and suitable to bond's mission?

from what i can remember, Bond has consistently used Sony (Ericsson) mobile phones in the movies.

I can just picture MI5 agents walking into carphone warehouse asking the snotty salesagent to fix their internet.

Sony should have really released phones like these at the beginning of this year. Now, they have to compete with Samsung Galaxy Note 2, IPhone 5, HTC One X+ and the rest...
