We knew the networks were eager to snap up the Xperia S. Everyone bar Virgin Mobile and Vodafone got on board with the first Sony-branded blower to hit these shores since Sony announced it was buying out Ericsson. But we didn't know exactly when the handset would arrive, nor how much it'd cost.
Well, those chaps over at Clove have priced up the handset for £467.99 including VAT, Pocketnow reports. So when will we be able to get our hands on it? It'll go on sale the week starting 5 March, according to the pre-order page. Start saving now.
The Xperia S impressed us no end in our hands-on. It packs in some truly awesome processing power, thanks to the dual-core 1.5GHz chip, a 4.3-inch 720x1,280-pixel resolution screen, a 12-megapixel camera, as well as 32GB of storage. It may not be as slim as handsets like the Motorola Razr or Samsung Galaxy S2, but it's no fatty either.
The main downer we can see is the fact it won't ship with Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest version of Android. Instead, you'll get Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which is a disappointment. Sony will push out an update to ICS, but it's a pain to have to wait, especially seeing as the Galaxy Nexus already has ICS on board.
How much would you be willing to pay for the Xperia S? And is it enough to turn around Sony's fortunes in the mobile field? We're excited to see what it can do once it's bought out Ericsson, and the Xperia S looks like a good start, but let us know what you reckon on our Facebook page or below in the comments.

Too much money. Quad core phones will be coming out soon and will be priced around £500, who would get this phone for that price when a much better phone would cost £30 more? I also think its too fat and that weird thing at the bottom is just pointless

Your wrong bro. Think about the Iphone 4 S It has a 8 M.P camera with 720p recording with a 1.0 Ghz processor And it cost a ball tingling £700. The Sony Xperia S has a 12.1 M.P camera with a 1080p recording with a video call recording front faceing 1.3 M.P 720p camera. It has a 1.5 Ghz Dual-Core Processor And has more apps to download from the Android® Market And only cost £500. It is more of a rival to the Samsung Galaxy S II and the new Nokia Lumia 900 P.S Apple Grow some ******* BALLS!!!! By David Norman

think we have to wait, that one site, and they are probably guessing, I doubt Sony have released reseller prices yet if its due for another 6 weeks or so, i think it will nearer £400.

LOL @iam a wp7 talking complete balls sony's phone is great value for money and sony's products always work well, the iphones always going to be miles overpriced cause of its stupidly high demand from consumers who havent got a clue about phones, definately the best phone to date potentially

i really like this phone, design and specs wise. disappointing about ics but i would like to see an article on how the interface really changes on these phones with ics on it seeing as the phone manufacturers all put their own ui on it. sony, htc, samsunng etc. i think that would be an interesting article to read. i can only imagine how fast the camera will be with ics's instant picture taking!! TOO MUCH CHOICE! :D

I have refused to use Sony Ericsson phones because they generally didn't appeal to me BUT I now find myself lusting after this (Xperia S) phone, I can't wait to get it. Good a thing my contract runs out March 19th, so either 3mobile get the phone by then or kiss my upgrade goodbye. You guys can wait for your quad core or whatever, this is it for me.

Sony Xperia S looks the business! Good spec and looks and the build quality is excellent! Much better than the Galaxy S2. The price is reasonable too. I will definitely be getting this in March. Welcome back Sony!

This phone obviously has awesome raw power and great hardware. As for ICS who cares, no doubt the devs on XDA will jump all over this phone. And with a good custom Rom it will be a beast. Like previously stated ICS will be covered up with Sonys own user interface anyways. XDAs legion of devs will more than likely create lots of optional roms and will probably bring ICS to it before Sony.

Sony is doing great job to consumer by providing better tech.smart phone at affordable price than apple phone.

Oooh... this is the phone I want! Been a huge fan of Sony since the days of the J7.
My contract with Virgin is up soon but alas according to the above it looks like they aren't taking it, Virgin's choice of Sony phones is pathetic, the Arc has disappeared from their roster recently - are they ditching Sony altogether?
Looks like I'll be ditching them to replace my X10 :-(
