Sony Ericsson Cedar: A new sapling in the GreenHeart forest

The Sony Ericsson Cedar is a new branch on the GreenHeart tree alongside other arboreally-branded phones such as the Sony Ericsson Elm. Like that guy from work who combines straggly dreadlocks and sandals with his suit, it's just at home in the office as it is communing with nature.

The Cedar is a 3G phone that's aimed at balancing business with eco-friendliness. It's a 3G HSDPA handset with push email and Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync for connecting to your work Outlook email. For funsies, a Widget Manager 2.0 puts Facebook, Twitter and MySpace on your 56mm (2.2-inch) home screen. There's an FM radio, 3.5mm jack and 2-megapixel camera. It records VGA video at 30 frames per second.

The hippy -- sorry, climate-conscious -- credentials include manufacturing the phone from recycled plastics and waterborne paint, packing a low power consumption charger into compact packaging. The battery offers nearly twenty days of stand-by time, according to Sony Ericsson.

The Cedar will grow into a mighty tree during the third quarter of the year, and will be available in black with silver bits, or black with red bits.
