Samsung Solid Extreme: If you're into rubber

We tend to push our mobiles to the limit in harsh, dangerous environments -- we usually drop them in the toilet after a night out -- so Samsung's latest ruggedised handset, the Solid Extreme, could be a godsend.

It's encased in 'anti-shock urethane material' -- that's rubber, fetish fans -- and Samsung says it will withstand knocks and dust, and hold its breath for up to 30 minutes under 1m of water.

It will also take blowing rain and salt fog on the chin, so it can handle a day out in Skegness.

But, similar to other ruggedised handsets, you don't get many fancy features underneath that sexy rubber exterior. There's a 1.3-megapixel camera for pictures and video, a media player, and an FM radio to keep you entertained in the sleet and hail.

The Solid Extreme also sports some butch features such as extra-loud external speakers, noise cancellation and an LED light you can use as a teeny-tiny torch. It's scheduled to get dropped in stores in April.

Update: The Solid Extreme is called the Xplorer B2100 outside of the UK
