Samsung has sent out invites to our American cousins for an event on 15 August -- that's a week on Wednesday.
And what's this scrawled on the invite? Looks like a tablet to me. It couldn't be the Galaxy Note 10.1 could it? I think it could very well be.
The event takes place in New York. There's no word on a UK event yet, but I'll update you as soon as I hear anything.
The invite encourages us to "Meet the new way", which sounds a little cryptic. But the outline is unmistakeably a tablet, and it'll come with a stylus, if those swirling lines are anything to go by.
We first clapped eyes on the Galaxy Note 10.1 -- a super-sized version of the original 5.3-inch Note -- back at Mobile World Congress in February. Samsung debuted the S Pen stylus along with it, for jotting down notes and doodling. It's pressure-sensitive, and uses a button to control multiple functions.
Samsung could hold back a European launch until IFA, the bratwurst-and-tech trade show that kicks off in Berlin in a few weeks. This week, invites went out for Samsung's IFA press conference on 29 August.
The next day a Samsung spokesperson confirmed it'll be unveiling "the next Galaxy Note" at the event. I'm taking this to mean the Galaxy Note 2, which is rumoured to be a 5.5-inch sequel with a faster processor and better camera, rather than the Note 10.1. But Samsung could decide to kill two birds with one stone.
