A device that looks to be the Samsung Galaxy S3 has appeared online, touting a 4.6-inch display and a 720p display, Engadget reports.
The leak comes via well-regarded Vietnamese site Tinhte, revealing footage of the mysterious device. You can check out the clip below, which yields what could be the S3's hardware specifications.
An 8-megapixel camera is tipped to squat around the back of the phone, while a 1.4GHz quad-core processor is reckoned to be humming under the bonnet. 16GB of storage plus a microSD card slot are also mentioned, while the S3 is also pegged to sport NFC tech and a 2,050mAh battery.
That display looks to have a resolution of 720x1,184 pixels, landing it with a dpi of 320, just shy of the 326dpi offered by the 3.5-inch iPhone 4S, but mighty impressive on a screen that big. The phone pictured has the model number GT-i9300, which is reckoned to be the model number for the Galaxy S3.
Ice Cream Sandwich is also on board -- as well as the notable on-screen buttons that the phone's 'about' page is proudly boasting Android version 4.0.3.
As for the design, I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't the final look for Samsung's newest toy. Recent reports suggest that crafty ol' Samsung is packing S3 samples in generic casing to send out to partners, in order to keep the true design a secret until the 3 May reveal.
This information chimes with what we're expecting from the Galaxy S3 -- a modest upgrade to the Galaxy S2 that makes each individual lump of hardware a little bit more potent. That may not sound very exciting, but it could add up to a seriously desirable smart phone.
Stay tuned for more info -- in the meantime let me know your thoughts in the comments, or on our Facebook wall.

For god's sake, I've been postponing my decision to buy a new device for this?! Thank you, I'll just get an iPhone :s

has anybody remembered that samsung has sent out the s3 in a fake shell to stop people doing this?! this will not be the final design if it is then its pretty bad and many will lose interest and abort samsung products I for certain will!

Looks very nice actually .... I'll have one of these on release over the iphone anyday, as i already have an iPad and Macbook pro, which illiminates the need for an iPhone completely.

I think that the first poster has a point. Otherwise it would be hardly differentiated from the HD varients of GS2

This is the S3 given by Samsung for testing, so some of its specks might not be final yet.

What i want to know is, where is the physical home button like the s2. I thought samsung decided they were going to keep it? only one word...... FAKE!!

If this really is the S3 I'm seriously disappointed in it. It's just a tiny upgrade and personally I don't like the look of the S2 with its plastic tacky design. I hope this isn't the final product but if it is, its made my choice easier and I will wait for the iPhone 5.

If this is what the S3 is going to be like then i am staying with HTC. HTC ONE X is a much appealing and beautiful device. OK i do agree that the 1.4Ghz Quad Core Exynos processor will beat the 1.5 Quad Core Tegra 3 in benchmarks but to be honest its just not about speed and benchmarks only. UI ( HTC Sense is the best as claimed by many ) and the form factor does play a vital role in buying a new phone. I have used Galaxy S2 for nearly a year and got bored of TouchWiz ( dont get me wrong but the phone even till this day is brilliant ). But Samsung needs to get rid of the plastic they used on the S2 and improve on TouchWiz if i am to leave HTC.

Casing looks badly pieced together...most likely its generic.
At least it better be!

I can't see this being the final spec - as a couple have people posted above - this would just be an increase in the processing power of the S2 HD and nothing more. This wouldn't be sufficient enough to be a legit upgrade and Samsung will get slated for being so secretive about an S2 HD they just put another 2 cores in.
If anything this is for testing the quad-core with LTE - I can see the final version having a slightly higher clock speed, better camera and slightly more memory - which don't impact on compatability with LTE
Just my two pence

had hoped for better camera - hope not final device, may have to go for sony xperia s
