Samsung Galaxy S2 and Note get Ice Cream Sandwich by March

The Samsung Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note will get the Ice Cream Sandwich update before April, Samsung Norway has confirmed.

Pocketdroid spotted a post on the company's Facebook page, in which Samsung Norway assured Galaxy fans that both the S2 and the Note would be getting bumped up to Android 4.0 "at the end of the first quarter" (takk, Google Translate!). We'd expect the update to arrive in the UK at roughly the same time.

The 'first quarter' comprises January, February and March, so expect the update to arrive before April, likely towards the end of March.

Is that a good result? Hardly any other mobiles have been updated to Ice Cream Sandwich to date, but on the other hand the latest, greatest version of Google's mobile operating system has been available since November.

We had hoped to see manufacturers squeezing it on to their mobiles by now, and we know many of you are anxious to find out when your particular phone will be updated.

Towards the end of December, Samsung confirmed that both the S2 and Note would be getting Ice Cream Sandwich -- now it looks as though we're moving towards an actual date.

It's not all lollipops and butterfly kisses in Samsung land though. The South Korean Galaxy-spawner has confirmed that neither the Galaxy Ace nor the Galaxy S will be updated to Android 4.0.

We're immensely fond of the slim, brilliantly bright Galaxy S2 -- it was our favourite phone of 2011. We were less fond of the Note, which although powerful, is so big you could use it as a sled.

If you own an S2 and just can't wait, check out our guide on how to install Ice Cream Sandwich on the Galaxy S2.

Snadwich or not . I love the phone and its works really well . I've been using it from a week it was launched. Maybe the delay has reasons and the upgrade may not make too much of the difference too. The only hitch is why the delay in an upgrade . The phone is great what happened to the guys working on the upgrade. Are they running out of RAM ?
