The Samsung Galaxy S 2 is so close we can practically taste it. The dual-core powerhouse is due for release on 1 May, but Phones4u reckons it can put the phone in your hands nearly a week early, while T-Mobile apparently won't see it for another month.
Phone networks O2, Orange, Three and Vodafone are scheduled to sell the phone from 1 May, the official release date. But Phones4u claims it will press the phone into your hot, sweaty hands on 27 April. It appears T-Mobile customers won't get their hands on the S 2 until June, according to the pink-hued network's 'coming soon' page.
That's odd considering Orange and T-Mobile are now the same company, united under the Everything Everywhere banner. Maybe Orange doesn't want to share its sweets? We've contacted T-Mobile for a comment and we'll update you when we hear back.
The S 2 was available to pre-order as early as February, when retailers advertised a 31 March release date. It's starting to look, however, like retailers are using release dates as a marketing ploy to get the likes of us writing about them, advertising those dates even when they aren't set in stone, and then pushing them back without turning a hair.
Since its unveiling earlier this year, the S 2 has been pushed back to an April and finally 1 May release -- but at least the delay saw the phone fired up with an improved processor. The S 2 will now come with a 1.2GHz dual-core chip, instead of the 1GHz model originally planned.
The S 2 is the successor to the Galaxy S, itself currently awaiting an update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The S 2 packs a giant, 4.3-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen and an 8-megapixel camera.
Will you be bagging yourself an S 2 in coming weeks, or have you got your eye on a rival smart-phone powerhouse? Let us know in the comments section below or on our Facebook wall.

Been looking into it recently and I was considering leaving Android to finally get my hands on an iPhone when the 5th version comes out, but this is really tempting me. I bet I could get a good offer on it from 3 or the like in about two months' time when my current contract runs out

Ordered one 3 weeks ago from mobiles.co.uk. I sent them an email asking when I can expect the phone to arrive and the answer seems to match above as I was told they will ship the phone "in the week commencing the 25th of April"...
Boy, I can't wait :-)

I've never actually seen a Galaxy S in person, and I was quick to dismiss the recent apple suit against samsung. But looking at this picture, there are a number of striking similarities. Maybe there is something to apple's claim after all.

Brilliant phone. Only had it for a couple of hours and love it already. The Samsung Mobilers were given one today by Samsung and it's a massive improvement over the Galaxy S. Very quick (3309 Quadrant score).

I just ordered a T Mobile contract for the Galaxy S2 from Phones 4 U, they have it on their website. Maybe it's just T Mobile direct then?

Techradar has just awarded it 5 stars. In their conclusion they lauded that this phone has resett the bench mark for every new phone to be judged against. I have the Galaxy S and love it, and when my contract is up in 6 months I will be defo gettin' this incredible peice of tech heaven.

Got mine yesterday at Phones 4 U. Absolutely love it!
Interestingly Orange called me today and asked why I'd cancelled my contract and informed me that they won't be getting the Galaxy S II until June.

I was told by orange too that it won't be out till june. Annoying because if I don't upgrade with them I lose my loyalty....

Spoke with Orange today and it's definitely not coming to them til "early June". Bit of a bummer seeing as o2 and Three have it already, not to mention P4U as well.
