Samsung's sold 3 million Galaxy S 2 handsets worldwide, within just two months of the Android-toting smart phone going on sale.
The figure is an early indication that the phone's been hugely successful. We aren't half pleased for Samsung, as the S 2 is one of the finest Android mobiles around, and quite possibly the best on the market today.
We reckon its success shows that consumers are increasingly savvy when it comes to buying gadgets, and that, while Android might not be a household name yet, there's hope for Google's geeky mobile operating system as long as it can find its way onto blindingly good hardware.
We awarded the Galaxy S 2 a mammoth 4.5 stars in our exhaustive review, praising its astonishingly slim frame, gorgeous display, and processor that's so nippy we looked away for a second and it had filled out our tax return.
It's worth noting, though, that Apple managed to put over 1.7 million iPhone 4s in punters' pockets during the handset's first three days on sale. But, for a phone that's been subject to drastically less marketing and hype, the S 2 seems to have performed rather well.
Still, it faces stiff competition in the next few months, with the 3D-toting HTC Evo 3D and LG Optimus 3D both incoming. There's the ominous shadow of the iPhone 5 looming on the horizon too.
Do you own an S 2? If so, has it lived up to your expectations? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below, or on our Facebook page.

After spending a good 2-3 months looking for a phone as my post-exams present, I finally found the Samsung Galaxy S2. Worried about missing out on HTC Sense's beauty but none the less, Touchwiz 4 was sufficent was the job. The processor 1.2 GHz is superbly fast and the ~1 GB ram also increases speed. The Super AMOLED Plus screen is beautiful and allows you to enjoy web browsing and videos to their fullest.

I have to agree, when it comes time to buying a new phone I usually get over excited about flashy features and clever hardware which is cool but it usually means that after a week of living with it I have a huge list of things that add up to buyers remorse.
I have to say though, after a week with my s2 I couldn't me happier, there's not been a single moment where somethings gone wrong (that hasn't been my own fault:) and I wished I had made a different choice. It's shiny and clever and super functional And if you live in a house with fast wifi, hdmi capable plasma tv's and other connectable equipment then buying this phone will make you feel like you've just time travelled to a distant future where technology works seamlessly to provide you with an amazing multimedia experience.
Hard to believe that this thing fits in my hand, it does more than my first 3 laptops combined...
I don't work for samsung, I've never been a brand fanatic, infact I was shopping for my 4th se phone in a row when I ended up with my s2 but I'm all for any phone that still seems like a good deal once the intoxication of a new technology purchase has worn off.

Well I have had a Galaxy s2 for 3 months now and I can say that is miles ahead from any other smartphone. The Iphone 4 is not even in that list, well behind with 1/3 of the functionality of the S2. The Iphone is a marketing toy for people who don't understand about technology and have deep pockets.
