Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 leaks ahead of MWC

And the leaks continue. The show stands at Mobile World Congress are still being set up as we speak, but someone's plugged in the Samsung screen early, accidentally showing off the Galaxy Note 8.0, Engadget reports.

It's pretty much as we expected, just about the right size to hold in one hand from the looks of things, and comes with a stylus. No doubt that'll be the same S-Pen that comes with the Galaxy Note 2 and the Note 10.1. But what's that in the top corner? An ear speaker? Is this thing going to make calls too?

There are no specs to go on, but we've heard word of the Note 8.0 before. A device that could well be it was certified at the FCC recently -- if the two are one and the same, then we're looking at a 1.6GHz processor, a 1,280x800-pixel display that'll be 8-inches across, and a 5-megapixel camera. Though that's a big 'if'.

The device was confirmed by Samsung boss JK Shin last month. Somewhat less officially, it was also spotted being used on what looks like a bus. Along with the Galaxy Note 7.7, it should be a decent challenger to the iPad mini and Nexus 7, and just about the perfect size for doodling on, I'd say.

Samsung isn't holding a press conference at Mobile World Congress, just as it didn't last year. But you can see when the other companies will hold theirs from our dedicated page. Sadly, it doesn't look like we'll see the Galaxy S4 unveiled next week, as Samsung likes to hold its own special event for such a flagship. And with the S4's predecessor selling more than 40 million units, I can't say I blame it.

Are you excited about the Galaxy Note 8.0? What's the best size for a tablet? And what else are you hoping for from MWC? Let me know in the comments, or on our Facebook page.
