Make a note in your calendar: the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 hits shops on 1 October, Samsung has officially confirmed.
You can be the first person in the country to get your hands on the Note 2 this very Monday, if you beat a path to the Samsung Store at Westfield, the enormoshopomall in Stratford in East London. You know -- where they had the Olympics. Remember the Olympics? They were great. Sigh.
Anyway, the Note 2 is also available on all the major phone networks from 1 October. It lands in other shops the following day, including Phones4U.
We love the Note 2's epic 5.5-inch display. Bigger than a phone and more portable than a tablet, it's perfect for browsing the web and watching videos, even if it's never going to fit in your skinny jeans. The powerful quad-core processor also impressed us, although we have some concerns about battery life -- not the original Note's strongest point.
We'll put the Note 2's relatively beefy 3,100mAh on-board battery through the usual barrage of battery-busting benchmark tests in our full review ahead of the launch date.
I wonder if the Samsung Store will ever see a queue as manic as the line for the iPhone 5. Probably not, I'm guessing.
Samsung wouldn't tell me the final price just yet, but various phone contracts are available that will net you a Note 2 for free if you commit to pay around forty quid each month, and don't mind letting out your jeans pockets to cart this behemoth about. The current Note is available online for about £350, so I expect the Note 2 to cost around £400, maybe even £450.
How much would you shell out for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2? Will you be first in the queue at the Samsung store? Tell me your thoughts in the comments or on our Facebook page.

Will be the best phone available when it arrives. I would pay about £500 for it and then pop in the £10 giffgaff sim. Paying £40 a month for 2 years is just stupid.

Someone above mentioned android users are too civilized to que up....totally agree! why wait a week outside a shop for a phone when you can order on-line and have it delivered to you....no hassle...........it shows how the iSheep have not evolved....enough to call them selves humans. but then again the samsungs are designed for humans.....kinda see why apple fans dont like it :P
they aren't humans.....humans know when something becomes too stupid and dong give up their days (calling in sick, getting week off, leaving social life out) for a phone!
but i wont be getting this not because i dont like it but because i currently have a galaxy s3 and that is the perfect phone for me currently (size, power, design)

I agree. There is NO reason to rush and buy this phone. There will be plenty available online. It's not like it's iPhone. LOL!

here's what I'm curious about... Which market segments are the various iterations of these phones aimed at? Which is the true flagship phone for example?
Samsung Galaxy S3 (inc 4G LTE model)... top of the range?
Samsung Galaxy note... aimed at? i mean, the price is going to be very close to the S3
Samsung Galazy Nexus... where doe sthis fit in?
I really think my next phone will be either the S3 or Nokia Lumia 920... But I'm going to wait and see what the new Blackberry 10 phone will be like (by which time there will probably be a Galaxy S4)
I think what appeals about Apple iPhone is its not so confusing... one phone a year, with the picture not mudded by various different versions. Samsung on the other hand, so many to choose from and difficult to see what's the true flagship and what the key purpose and merits are of each.

The original note online for £350 I would like to know where? If the Note 2 arrives online for less than the current £530 I will be surprised... I would love the Note 2 to be £400 but realistically this is not going to happen!

Does anybody know if the Note 2 release on 1st October is the LTE (4G) version...? Thanks!

Samsung does not need "a queue as manic as the line for the (overrated) iPhone 5" because Samsung release at least 5 phones a year and sell millions of each model. They sell more phones overall than the iPhone.

It is not need to queue up as Note2 will be the best choice for at least the next 2 years. I can buy it anytime later when the price is lower cos Andriod user are smarter user.

When is coming to USA?
anonymous 27 September, 2012 19:14
If I only knew where to queue in Dubai I would immediately - I am currently an iphone 4S user.

i checked with both samsung.. who didnt really seem to know but it might?..and the clove store who have the phone and it will not be a 4g lte unit in the uk at the moment.. which is really stupid move from samsung..could have wiped the floor with apple...hope i'm wrong but who wants to buy a phone thats redundant after 6 months

So Westfield is planning to sell these on Sunday, 1 day early. However, if it really is the 3G only versions, how many of you would still get it? I must admit, its making me think twice...

Had a go with this today - brilliant! And a lot more comfortable and polished feel than the first note. Though I'd go for the titanium not the white.

It will have to be decided upon on a flip of the coin :3
