Samsung has hit back at rumours that the Samsung Galaxy Nexus had been delayed until December, today confirming that the 4.65-inch smart phone is on track for its 17 November release.
"Samsung can confirm that the UK launch date for the Galaxy Nexus is the 17th November." the South Korean tech giant told us, in a statement as brief as it is heartening.
It was whispered that the Galaxy Nexus had been delayed, thanks to an Amazon.co.uk listing that pegged the new mobile as dropping on 2 December.
That listing is still live, so it's possible that while the Galaxy Nexus will be available in Blighty on 17 November, Amazon won't be getting it until a little later. We'll be keeping a close eye on that listing to see if it changes to Samsung's earlier date.
Samsung can't afford to let the Galaxy Nexus' release date slide. This massive phone will be the first to launch running Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest version of Google's Android operating system, and it needs to get it into shops quickly to compete with iOS and the looming threat of Windows Phone, both of which have spangly new versions out as well.
We've gone hands-on with the Galaxy Nexus already, and it looks like a tempting bit of kit. Read our first impressions for the skinny.
Will you be splashing out on the Galaxy Nexus? Or would you rather wait patiently for Ice Cream Sandwich to come to your Android phone of choice? Perhaps you'd just rather have an iPhone filling your pockets? Shout your thoughts in the comments, or hit us up on our Facebook wall or Google+ page.

Coming off of a HTC Hero I will never buy a non-nexus phone again, OS updates are just too unreliable. My pre-order for the Galaxy Nexus was in the morning after the announcement event. Can't wait :D

I'm the same as grindboy, I have a HTC Hero and the updates have been rubbish! Can't wait to get my Galaxy Nexus. gonna go with 3 too on their on plan to get HSPA+ or whatever its called, with "all you can eat data" yey!
I still want to see how this phone looks in real life, as my only issue is just how big it is!

Looks like a nasty iPhone 3gs knock off, with a stupid camera bulging out the back.
I'll pass.

Yep - I'm nearing the end of my contract with an HTC Legend.
The Galaxy Nexus is right at the top of my "want" list, so I'm currently saving up!!
Ideally, I want to buy it sim-free, so get access to the OS updates as quick as poss, but I'll shop around the contract deals as well...

Same as the two Hero users above. I bought a Desire Z halfway through my contract, but then it recently gave up on me. Had put stock Gingerbread on both of them, and can't wait for my Galaxy Nexus. I will be going to my local Phone4U at 9am!
@Anonymous the guys at Phones4U told me the Orange contract one will probably be a sim-unlocked one just with an Orange contract, might be worth checking that out

How on earth does it look like a 3GS? You are the definition of a fanboy at it's best, most phones look roughly the same these days, by the fact that 90% of a phone is now it's screen, which is black in 100% of cases.

3 have stated the phone will have no branding as its a pure google phone, with updates direct from google, I think the other networks will be the same. :)
I ordered mine today vie topcashback!

Any news if the 32GB version will be available on the 17th as well?

@ Paul Riley
Were did you see three say that?
Paul Riley 15 November, 2011 12:13
Various places, their blog for 1 http://blog.three.co.uk/2011/10/19/galaxy-nexus-is-coming-to-three/ look for a bunch of comments from "Moderator: Sedge" she says it and I've seen it on their facebook too, someone asked them directly if it would be branded and at first they said yes but then corrected themselves and said it would be completely unbranded with updates direct from google. :)

@ Christopher nilsson
I've read that the UK is NOT getting the 32GB one for some reason :(

The design does look a bit naff but I'm still intending to get one. The size and quality of the screen will make up for it. Does anyone know if the Galaxy Nexus has a micro SD card slot like the Galaxy S II has?
