Samsung is downplaying Samsung Galaxy Nexus battery issues after CNET UK readers ran into problems charging their new phones.
"The number of official repair and complaint cases in the UK relating to problems with the battery power and charging of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus are extremely low, therefore any reported cases are isolated," Samsung told us.
"Any customers having problems with their device should contact Samsung's technical support team who will be able to help."
So Samsung reckons there's nothing to see here, folks, but that's to be expected after the Nexus previously ran into trouble over a bug with the volume buttons. The charging issue doesn't appear to be as widespread, but it's been spotted by several Nexusites.
Two readers got in touch with us to report their new Galaxy Nexus failing to charge, then going nuts and repeatedly thinking it's being plugged in and unplugged again. The problem has been reported by other Nexus owners in various support forums.
The Galaxy Nexus is the first phone to showcase Google's latest version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich. The first question to ask when confronted with a persistent problem with a phone is whether it's a software or hardware issue. Google quickly directed us towards Samsung on this issue, suggesting it's a hardware problem.
The good news if you're affected is that Samsung is aware of the problem, and has explicitly advised those affected to get in touch so they can sort the problem out.
Other phones to report battery issues recently include the Nokia Lumia 800, which would sometimes stay dead if allowed to run out of power completely, and the iPhone 4S, which also suffered battery issues.
Battery top tip from Lifehacker: the watchwords for charging, as with eating, are little and often. If you keep your phone hovering between about 50 per cent and 90 per cent you'll prolong its lifespan. Avoiding juicing fully or leaving the phone charging once the battery is full, and occasionally let it run out completely.
Have you encountered the battery bug? Whether you own a Galaxy Nexus or any other phone, how long does your battery last? Charge up in the comments or on our Facebook page.

At last some great news. I am expecting the new device on Monday and I hope there will not be any problem with the new one. I almost thought of going to iPhone4S if the new device is not working as well. Fingers crosses on the new device..

They said turn everything down. When will samsung accutally listen to its customers sad day :( my advice dont get the samsung galaxy nexus wait for a diffrent phone coming theres lots of issues with the phone u will later see and regret as i do. Had to send my first Nexus back, because it wouldn't charge. Phones4U customer service was not the best, but after about two weeks I got a replacement, and no problems second time round.

I have just had the same problem with my nexus. The battery has started to drain within hours. This wasn't a gradual decline in battery performance but literally it happened over night.

With regard to the Nexus battery issues - I've had my Galaxy Nexus now for approximately 2 months with no issues until this evening. The phone's battery indicator was showing red and giving me the low battery warnings as usual. I went to plug in my charger and nothing happened - no charging symbol showed up! I was starting to get worried now so removed my password in case I had to return it to the shop. I tried a shut down and re-boot but still no response. Getting really annoyed at the thought of "my life" shutting down on me, I just pulled out the battery whilst the screen was on and tried a re-boot again. I've just plugged in my charger now and I'm pleased to inform, it is charging now. I'll comment again if problems persists (crosses his fingers).

Update on previous post:
I think I've found the cause of my "battery" problems with my Galaxy Nexus! All Nexus owners having problems with charging issues/problems should do the following:

Horrid it only last for about 30 minutes off charger....verizon and samsung act as if this is a new issue. They sent me a replacement but havent avtivated it yet... first they have me two new different chargers then new battery...never accepting responsibility and wasting my time

I have just experienced this problem. The battery has never been great in the couple of months I've had the phone, but this is ridiculous.
I'm expecting lots of hassle and inconvenience in getting it sorted.
