When Apple first discussed the possiblity of third-party applications on the iPhone, the company said that Web applications were the best way to get outside software onto the device.
But Apple inevitably changed its tune, announcing plans in October to release a software development kit by the end of February to allow developers to create native applications for the iPhone. The SDK will be a little late, but Apple and other companies have shown what types of applications are possible, including interesting games like Sega's Super Monkey Ball.
