Nokia's reportedly crafted another software update for the Lumia 800, with the latest release expected to address problems with the phone's volume control.
The Verge reckons that the latest update is catchily-dubbed version 12072, and is set to appear in some parts of the world this week.
The update follows an earlier fix that addressed battery woes, but in a cruel twist, it looks like that last refresh introduced some volume weirdness, with ringtones reportedly playing way too loudly for the first second that the phone is ringing.
The update is arriving in some regions of the world this week, and also allows the Lumia 800's camera app to detect 50 or 60Hz flickering from electronic lights when using flicker reduction.
Like the last update, this one includes some new power management goodies, with improved charger detection reckoned being one such benefit. This update hasn't appeared on Nokia's official blog yet, so take this news with a little pinch of salt.
It's hard to know what to make of the Lumia 800's frequent updates. On the one hand, it would be nice if the phone had arrived in a more polished state, without the need for a series of software boosts to bolster performance.
But then again, reading the wails of despair from Samsung Galaxy S2 owners who can't get the Android Ice Cream Sandwich update on their mobiles, I wonder if perhaps frequent, incremental updates is actually a rather healthy approach.
I reckon the Lumia 800 is the finest Windows Phone device around, so as far as I'm concerned, the more Nokia can do to keep it stable and working reliably, the better.

I have been using Lumia 800 along side with HTC Sensation Z710e for many months (recently it has received ICS upgrade). IMHO WP is far 'better performing and efficient', stable and beautiful OS when compared with android (including ICS). I've owned six high end droids over the years, and almost every one of them had stability issues (i.e. famous android lags, hang ups, random crashes), none of which happen on Lumia 800 on WP 7.5. Also whenever I am using a droid, I can't get away from the feeling that the OS is a rip-off of iOS. So in a nutshell If I want something like iOS, I'll rather get the real thing instead of a copycat.

Well I've been living with the L800 now for 2/3 months and despite all these negative comments from Android and Apple users I think it's a great phone. I've had both of the fore mentioned and they have both there advantages however I found that Android was too unstable and washy with costant freezes despite having it on a number of devices. Apple I cant really fault but its all a bit boring and same same, having had an iPhone from the first 2G they've hardly come along way in 4/5 years..similar design and same boring icons, although I admit it works, but at a high price. The Lumia is a wonderful piece of kit, great battery life, works well, looks good and classy and best of all never freezes. I do miss the itunes of the iPhone but thats about it. As for a lack of Apps how many do we really use all the time, I would guess the ones we use on a regular basis are on all formats.
All in all I cant recommend the Lumia enough. All my friends who've had a play are impressed, they're just not brave enough to take the leap from the iPhone.

I took the leap from iPhone to the lumia and it was the worst mistake I had ever made, I'm not saying its a rubbish phone or even comparing it to the iPhone it just wasn't my cup of tea, didn't like windows take on things.

I too went from an iPhone (also used an N8) to a Lumia. I like it better.
Nothing wrong with the iPhone, just got bored with it since everyone has one.

Used the Lumia 800 several months & can confirm its a brick & behaves like one. Yes the os is slick but so is a slug. This phone is way behind in apps, it has no data tiles & the charging issues, well lets not start because wouldn't know where stop. I have just returned to android htc one s & don't know why I stupidly left. Waste of money & time.
