Nokia Lumia 800 battery fixed, camera and audio bugs wait

Nokia says it's solved the Nokia Lumia 800's battery woes. The latest software update is claimed to get your battery back up to speed -- but your camera will have to wait.

Some Lumia 800s suffered from a battery bug that saw it run out of juice all too soon. Nokia reckons this update will take care of the issue, and has turned its attention to the camera's failure to focus.

A problem with interference in the music player has also been flagged by the Finnish phone-fabricators.

On an official support forum, Nokia says update 1600.2483.8106.11500 improves standby time and addresses the issue that caused some phones to fail to charge to full capacity.

But something is still rotten in the state of, er, Finland: Nokia has "noted your concerns regarding audio and camera settings" and plans to solve those issues "in a series of future updates".

Although we didn't have any battery problems during our initial review, our review sample did end up turning itself off a few weeks later and refusing to turn back on. This Craver has been happily using a replacement ever since and there haven't been any issues, which chimes with Nokia's claim that only some phones are affected.

Nokia isn't the only phone giant facing battery issues: a number of readers have reported battery problems with their Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

Has your Lumia faced camera or audio problems? Does your phone's battery regularly run out of gas? Tell us your thoughts in the comments or on our Facebook page.

My Lumia 800's battery life actually seems worse after the update, which is really bizarre.

After the first update all seemed better, with battery life increased to around 16 hours (from about 8 hours). However, after the second 'fix' battery life seems to have reverted to its original poor state.

I have a beautiful phone, but unfortunately it does not seem to be fit for its intended purpose... such a shame.

Received my Nokia Lumia and really like it. I have now had it for 3 weeks and the battery discharges at an alarming rate! I need to charge it twice a day, and that is only using it for texts.

Today I find that I am unable to switch the phone on! Nothing works. Looks like I will have to cancel the contract.

I've not had any problems with mine at all. The camera isn't quite as 'snappy' as some, but i've had no trouble with battery life or the audio. Got it launch day.

Think have fixed the battery issue...found this after my boss and I got phones on the same day. His already had the battery update and mine didn't. I installed a number of apps ect. and then updated the phone a day or so later. My battery drained quickly and his was ok. I did a hard reset with the new update on it (loosing all apps ect. but backing up numbers Skydrive or Sim). The phone reset but with the new update. This appears to have drastically improved the drain, used 5% in 2 hours and drains at around130-150 mA with wireless, 3G, ect. on updates on (using the diagnostic tool - dial ##634# for this tool). I think this is definitely worth a try.

Hope it helps

The battery has got better since the update and having installed the diagnostic tool I can see that my full charge capacity is somewhere close to 1,400 mAh.

The only problem I have is that the sound when taling on the phone is a little muted and dull. My old Blackberry 9700 had a treble enhancer, which made it really easy to hear calls.

Does anyone know if Nokia are planning an enhancer or fix for the muted sound quality when making a call>

My Lumia was fine after the first update, had a Full Charge Capacity (on Diagnostics screen) of 1512mAh.

However, since the update last week, it went down significantly to 1100mAh. This, I found, was unable to get it through the day, just on standby (with 3g, wifi, location, bt, etc all turned OFF).

So, I have had to restore the phone to the previous version of WP7 and it is now fine again! Nobody else seems to have had this issue, so unsure whether to complain formally to Nokia.

I've had mine for a week. First couple of times it discharged within 12 hours (battery saver on and a couple of texts). A few days a go I charged it for about 12 hours, and it's now been on for 27 hours with 65% left (30 mins phone calls and more texts).

Odd, but I'm not complaining

Just to echo the above comments, when i got the phone the battery life was so so. After downloading the update it seemed to get a lot worse. One day it didn't make it all the way through & that was after just a handful of phone calls and a handful of texts. So I did the hard reset & suddenly the battery was great. I was using the battery saver admittedly (owing to the loss of confidence) but last night it reported I still had one and a half days charge left and had used about 30%. I would therefore very strongly recommend doing a hard reset once you have the latest update. I know it's a bind but if like me you have all your contacts and calendar synced to Outlook via the Outlook connector it's not so bad. The contacts & calendar just reappeared on the phone as if by magic once I put my Hotmail password in. I'll obviously be monitoring the battery for a while because it let me down at work before I reset it, but I'm pleased to say that I love it again now & would recommend it to anyone. It's a gorgeous phone.

had my Nokia Lumia 800 since november. Its never been great for battery life. Normally charge it whilst I sleep. But lately it has got worse again. Not sure if I have done updates properly. THEN yesterday it stopped working. After trying various chargers managed to get it to turn on a few times but only got to NOKIA screen. Been trying all day and after connecting to my computer have managed to get the battery sign back - but nothing else happens. Any ideas before I have to send back as its under warranty.
