Nokia 6234: Simple and smart

The Nokia 6230 was a breakthrough mobile phone that saw quality features merged with a compact form factor. Now Nokia has gone back to basics and launched the Nokia 6234, available exclusively from Vodafone. The new model combines modern features with a classic design.

The Nokia 6234 is a 3G-enabled candybar phone that measures 46 by 108 by 18mm and weighs 110g -- similar to the 6230i. The handset looks smooth with rounded edges and a traditional Nokia keypad layout. We're not sure the small soft keys and rounded-off keypad will be comfortable to use, but we'll reserve judgement until we get one in.

It features a 2-megapixel camera (without flash), QVGA display, built-in stereo speakers, Bluetooth and an expandable microSD slot that can support up to 2GB. Via 3G you will be able to access Vodafone live!, which lets you download music, videos and games. You'll also be able to access Sky Mobile TV this summer and watch the cricket. The phone is free on a Vodafone Anytime 200 contract, or costs £250 if you're on pay as you go. Expect a full review soon. -AL
