Noel Gallagher may have put his Oasis days behind him, but it seems he's still missing the 90s in one way.
He's not a fan of the iPhone, instead preferring a simpler handset that would've been popular in Oasis' heyday. "I just want a basic 1994 Nokia mobile," Gallagher told the Mirror at the recent Q Awards. "I can keep it in my back pocket and just do the basics with it -- phone and text. What would I need a camera on it for?" And he had some choice words for iPhone owners.
"iPhones are for cockneys and ****s," he continued. "And they are far too big." (We're guessing he's talking about iPhones there, not cockneys or ****s.)
It's a strange accusation to level at iPhone owners, not one we've heard before. Maybe he assumes all cockneys are rich. Or maybe he was making some reference to voice-controlled Siri on the iPhone 4S.
Gallagher is now fronting Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, though based on his Q Awards antics, maybe the band should be renamed Noel Gallagher's Angry Birds. Or maybe not.
He said he wouldn't be averse to collaborating with Coldplay, the band who snubbed Spotify because its album needs to be listened to as a whole rather than as individual tracks. He also listed U2 as possible collaborators, or "anyone who sells 50 million records."
Though he admitted he's never been asked to do a collaboration, saying, "I guess I just don't give off that come-and-get-me vibe."
Is he right about iPhone owners? If so, who's Android for? Let us know on our Facebook page.

He probably cant afford any of the smartphone range as his new band is FAIL and he most probably has spent most of his fortune on drugs and alcohol

Sounds like you REALLY want someone to suck your ******.
anonymous 31 October, 2011 22:19
yeah his band is a real failure with a debut number one album... I am guessing you like music where a black persons sings about Hos and gang warfare.

can you fit a phone from 1994 in your back pocket? I thought it was the later 90's phones that got smaller, pocket sized..
EDIT: Just checked...and yea....the Nokia 2100 series seemed small ish...wow..learn something new everyday

A failure compared to Oasis...yes. And actually, I was a huge Oasis fan,.....away and play with your cheap mans IOS(android).<br />

I have listened to this guy for a time now and he is not as daft as you would expect from his old antics. As for his taste in phones, I have several current smart phones but have just bought a Nokia 3710. This is the best phone I have ever used bar none. It is now discontinued but how did it sneak under my radar initially.

Hey could any brits tell me what does '****' stand for? As a foreigner, i have no idea...
Mark Anderson 1 November, 2011 07:24
Well, he's right, isn't he? iPhones are dreadfully dull phones for dreadfully dull people.

Mr Gallagher's opinion on this subject should be respected. Having rather blatantly taken parts of various 60's/70's band's compositions and made them his own, he is more than adequately placed to identify a company that uses pretty much the same methods.

Agree with Noel, Mark Anderson & anonymous 1 November, 2011 07:52, lol!

Lol Noel, always there to make me smile. I mean just look at that face.
anonymous 1 November, 2011 11:08
He has a point - iPhones are the Audi of mobiles...
anonymous 1 November, 2011 11:53
He obviously means smartphones in general, if he's referring to size. Anyway, iPhones are smaller than a lot of Android phones anyway, with their 4"+ screens.

Like his haircut...he's stuck in the 90's

He has a point, too many pointless spazzes who will whine that they're not making enough to get by even assuming they have a job (think Occupy-type protesters here) yet have the latest overpriced iphone/ipad/iwhatever the second Apple farts a new model out. ****s the lot of them.
