Motorola has updated its software upgrade page for its Android range, and the big news is that the Razr i will make the jump to Jelly Bean at the start of next year.
The Razr i is listed as being upgraded in Q1 2013, so should be all Jelly Beaned up by the end of March. And if you own the Razr or Razr Maxx? Well, it's good news of sort.
The Razr and Razr Maxx received the update to Ice Cream Sandwich in the second half of this year, but Motorola is being a bit vague about its Jelly Bean ambitions. All it'll say is both handsets "Will be upgraded to Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) for select countries and carriers." But there's no word on when.
The Razr i packs an Intel-made processor that's clocked at a ridiculously fast 2GHz. Of course there's a lot more to phones than just how fast the processor is, and what with dual-core and quad-core efforts coming from all sides, it could well be outdone on the speed stakes. But it's an impressive feat nevertheless.
There's a 4.3-inch screen, and the phone is protected by a Kevlar coating, which should come in handy if you stash it in a bag with your keys. The screen is also said to be an edge-to-edge display, with "virtually no border", though I can see one quite clearly in the picture above.
Android Ice Cream Sandwich came as standard on the Razr i, so the jump to Jelly Bean will be most welcome.
Jelly Bean brings new features like Google's advanced voice search and Google Now, which gives you info based on where you are and what you're doing. Google owns Motorola, so I'd expect Moto handsets to be front of the queue when it comes to software upgrades, but so far that's not been the case.
What do you think of the Rarz i? And what about the Jelly Bean rollout? Let me know what you reckon in the comments, or over on Facebook.
