Motorola Droid Razr HD specs tipped by photo data

A new smart phone dubbed the Motorola Droid Razr HD has been tipped, with photo image data pointing to the mystery mobile packing Android 4.0, aka Ice Cream Sandwich.

Photos reportedly posted to photo-sharing site Picasa by a Motorola employee have been cracked open like coconuts, revealing the sweet EXIF milk within, droid-life reports, via Pocket-Lint. That image data points to a smart phone called the Droid Razr HD.

The software listed in the data mentions 4.0.3, which could refer to the edition of Android running on the device. Fans of Google's robotic operating system won't need me to tell them that Android 4.0 is Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest iteration.

If this secretive smart phone really is running Ice Cream Sandwich, it would be good news indeed. The Motorola Razr disappointed me by running Android 2.3 Gingerbread, even though Motorola is being bought by Google. What gives?

Motorola makes a lot of phones for the US, and the 'Droid' tag in the name would traditionally suggest we won't see this phone arriving in the UK. Moto recently confirmed, however, that the Droid Razr Maxx would be winging its way to Blighty, with the name changed to Razr Maxx.

As such, it wouldn't surprise me if the Droid Razr HD hit the UK as the regular old Razr HD.

The Maxx is set to offer superior battery life, but makes the phone's casing a bit chunkier than the Motorola Razr that came out last year. The 'HD' tag in this latest device's name implies the screen will have a 720p resolution, like the Samsung Galaxy Nexus or HTC One X.

Based on Motorola's previous efforts, if the Razr HD proves to be real, expect it to be super skinny, and for Motorola to have heavily customised the Android interface.

Are you intrigued? What did you think of last year's Razr? Let me know in the comments, or over on our Facebook wall.
