At Mobile World Congress, Modu added to its range of mobile-phone 'jackets' -- handset shells with varying features and designs, into which the company's tiny, modular phone can be inserted. The Modu Music Jacket, the result of a collaboration with JBL, is designed to turn the Modu phone into a snappy music device.
On one side of the jacket are two JBL Odyssey speakers and dedicated music controls, while the opposite side resembles a standard mobile phone, with a 56mm (2.2-inch) display, full navigation array and standard alphanumeric keypad. It looks odd but we like the concept.
Other features include USB connectivity, a 3-megapixel camera, a 3.5mm headset jack and a digital sound meter. The jacket will be available later this year for an as-yet-undisclosed price.
