Like cheap calls? Then Lycamobile

If you're down in the dumps because you're stuck in the UK this Christmas while all your family and friends are warm and happy overseas, you may be interested in the Lycamobile SIM card. Available to buy from a variety of shops, the Lycamobile SIM allows you to call loved ones abroad at a reduced rate. The advantage of using a Lycamobile SIM is that once you put it in an unlocked mobile phone, you don't need to dial a preposterously long calling code. The SIM is free when you buy it with £5 credit, and it comes with £2 free.

Calls to Pakistan, for example, cost 7p per minute to mobile and landline numbers, calls to India are 7p per minute to mobiles and 5p per minute to landlines, and calls to Nigeria are 10p per minute to mobiles and 5p per minute to landlines. Those are some of the most popular call destinations, but Lycamobile provides reduced rates for many other international destinations too.

As a Christmas special, if you buy a Lycamobile SIM and top it up in December with £20, you'll get free texts to any international destination until 2 January 2009. Our only reservation about Lycamobile is that calls to the UK aren't as cheap as using certain pay as you go SIMs, so it's not ideal for using all the time, but for when you need to make a call abroad it is useful. Please keep in mind that it will only work in unlocked mobile phones, so if your handset is locked to a network you'll need to get it unlocked, which could cost around £10. -Andrew Lim

I must say.. Lycamobile is far better than callling via long long connecting numbers!

I am using Lycamobile since a year.. and i found no other service provider nearly match the price tag!

I highly recommend this to make cheap calls abroad.

lycamobile is the best there in the business and the customer service is not too bad they really help you out when you are in need..but sometimes rude there was one guy names dustin and he made me feel really good when he spoke to me ..so I won't say its bad..and offers are also good since I log into internet everyday I have no problem in checking their validity and stuff plus cheap calls rates to various destinations ..what more you need? Stop cribbing and make the most out of it..I highly recommend lyca..

Lycamobile is too expensive. Take at look out at MO-Call (mo-call.com)

MO looks good, but i feel the tariff to call India is cheaper with lyca. Also they provide free internet service up to 10mb a day seems like a good deal, they have 0p/min to call any lyca number across the globe...my fiancée lives in Australia and it works well for us

Am really satisfied with the service lycamobile provide.

Awful Customer Service, Awful charges £2.71 a min average when you call a Lyca abroad and that's just to the Lyca Sim receiver of call, awful rip off. DO NOT TOUCH THIS COMPANY,I trusted them as Tesco Currys etc sold them, and all that above was after two weeks of trying to get my credit I paid them to work, recipients are still waiting on the many text's I have sent them that's advertised at 50p each. Will need to see what actual cost will be when they finally receive the texts, stick with what you have already, the free and 1p prices quoted are a huge rip off. Trading standards are looking into my claims against them.

I too had a thought that lycamobile would cost me more before buying it but my friend insisted me to buy it. I had no hope on lyca but later i came to know that it is the best when compared with the other sim card companies. The call rates are excellent and regarding the roaming tariffs you can visit their website or you can call their customer service. I never get confused with their charges because i get my call history on the website by logging on to my lyca account. Their customer service is good and now am really happy with their customer service

According to me Lycamobile is far better than any other SIM company. To get an update on the charges i used to call up their customer service and i never experienced any issue with their customer service they are polite and helpful. They provide me 10mb free internet service every day. I got my free minutes and free texts by toping up for £ 10. I highly recommend lyca!

UPDATE .... After my post on 8 May, 2011 21:29 it seems from newer posts that Lyca staff are trying to bury my post and others, my son ( on a 6 month travel break ) is now in Vietnam and we have totally gave up with Lyca ages ago even though I still have some credit left, by the way if you are stupid enough to sign up with them or just got caught in this scam like I did DO NOT tick auto top up when buying online as there is no way to cancel it with them other that contacting your bank or visa direct etc. This company needs to be closed down, trust me just go away with one of the recognised UK mobile providers and forget the rest offering candy 1p calls etc, keeping in contact with loved ones is just too important and these people just don't care, before leaving for abroad get Skype (Free download and free to use, just google Skype ) installed on all laptops or computers of everyone ( you can also use Skype on 3 mobile network ) we have done video calls every week to keep it touch wherever they get free wifi abroad AND ITS ABSOLUTELY FREE....and very easy to set up, its fantastic to see them.
