The next iPhone will be launching in October, AllThingsD is reporting, and not September, as just about everyone on the planet previously thought.
One recent tidbit hinting at a September release for the iPhone 5 was a Gizmodo report that employees of AT&T (a major American network) had been denied holiday requests for the last two weeks of September, "due to an event blackout".
But AllThingsD's sources (who are apparently familiar with the matter) slam that rumour. "I don't know why AT&T's calling for all hands on deck those weeks, but it's not for an iPhone launch." They reckon October is launch month.
Our first response is to moan loudly like a grumpy buffalo. We've already waited months longer than expected for the iPhone 5, and the lactic acid buildup in our posteriors induced by anticipative buttock-clenching is reaching near-explosive levels.
But employing Sherlock-like deductive reasoning, it occurs to us that the iPhone 5 could be announced in September, but not make it into shops until October, potentially making both reports accurate. Though that would mean the AT&T holiday block -- if it is real -- would probably be for something else.
We've heard a tonne of rumours that September would be the month of the iPhone 5, and even seen job postings that hinted at a mid-August release, so until more information leaks out, there's no way of knowing for sure. Predictions as to the device itself, however, are starting to fall into line -- we're expecting the iPhone 5 to feature a wide display, the iPad 2's faster processor, possibly a larger home screen button and a curved back.

After having IOS and android android is by far the winner, yes I do like to read these articles because I love the competition between all the Hardware and software, at the end of the day it's what makes android and ios what they are today! :D

It seems more likely for the end of September.
No point having a load of your employees going off on holiday in October if you need them for the iPhone launch.

Apple are a great company i really mean that. But unless their is going to be a major change in the way that the OS looks, may i ask what is the big deal.
Yes the phone will look different but at the same time look the same meaning the same single button in the middle and if the OS dosent change it will still be rows and rows of icons that can be put in little folders. yea they will have a better camera and bump up the video and it might be dual core (which has been done already) and they have a new notification system happly taken from Android, but still what is the big deal. we all know that they will have a feature like facetime and the people not in the know will jump up and down like it never happened before and all the people will que around the block, but really what is going to be new.
we all know that Cnet will give it the best review and say its the phone to beat with it 400,000 apps and how it just works and every single phone from the iphone 5 onwards will be compared to it. Nobody at Cnet is going to give a bad review.
Thats why i dont get all the jumping up and down about release dates it going to happen and the same thing that happend last year baring a complete revamp and new look to the OS will be the same thing that will happen this year. Yes it will look pretty but its just not that exciting anymore unless something radical is going to happen and by that i dont mean a cheap iphone. I am of course prepared to eat my hat

I think we are all mad creating all this media hype just for another Apple product, I know they are great phones but this much media attention never happened when some of the other mfrs released great new phone such as a Nokia 8850 or the Motorola Clamshell (the diddy little one) or the N73 or N95 for that matter.
ITs great marketing we are all doing free of charge for Mr Jobs, Apple products are amazing gadgets and build is pretty good but I cant help but think we are being told what to do by Apple like lemmings, like the nerds who camp outside a shop to be the first to get one! Nuts really.

I love iPhone launches.
For one there is the one and only leader of the church of apple, Jobs. He will do a keynote about the iPhone which he will reveal 200 new features of which, 75 things will be common sense that even a 20 quid phone can do. 50 will be features that have been round for years but because apple is now doing them, everyone will love them (i.e video recording on 3gs and video calling... sorry face time..ing). 25 will be take from the current phones on the market and then apple will sue them for it and the other 25 will be new ideas that only effect the look of the device and have no usefulness to the user.
Then lord jobs will make a joke about signal issues and then him and his lackys will say the iPhone is better for about an hour. But all this is ok because that owner of a multibillion dollar company is one of use, and only thinks about use because he's wearing jeans and t shirt.
And then the best bit... the day it goes on sale. Where people cue for days outside waiting to buy one. Then u ask them "why do want an iPhone?" And u get the answer, "because I always wanted one and this is the best one yet". When this answer arrives, I always ask them one thing and only one thing. "Why is this best one yet?" And I always ask this because they don't know the answer. They are queing for hours, days to buy one of the most expensive phones on the market.... and they don't even no why.... Classic lol
That is why I love iPhone launches
