The hyper-hyped iPhone 5 is coming out on 15 October, according to the CEO of France Telecom, the parent company of Orange.
Mobile bigwig Stéphane Richard was speaking to French reporters when he let slip that the fifth iPhone's French release date would be slap bang in the middle of October. If that's true, we'd expect the UK release date to be the same day.
Richard hasn't been shy about discussing Apple's plans in the past -- in May he confirmed that Apple is working on a smaller SIM-card standard.
So how likely is a 15 October launch date? Well, it would align nicely with rumours that AppleCare staff had been told to expect an increase in queries related to iOS 5 from Monday 10 October -- last year Apple released iOS 4 just a few days before the iPhone 4 itself.
On the other hand 15 October is a Saturday, which might be convenient for shoppers, but for the last few years Apple has released its biggest products during the week, forcing working stiffs like ourselves out the office to queue for them. Apple will also be keen on getting media outlets to write loads of coverage on the launch, and that's harder to do on a weekend.
We're not sure what to expect from the iPhone 5 -- leaked case designs suggest a rounded back with a larger screen, though recently an analyst said that the iPhone 5 was likely to be a minor redesign, and look a lot like the current iPhone 4.
What do you think the iPhone 5 will be? Have a guess in the comments, or on our Facebook wall.

Rumours rumours rumours.
Do us a favour, don't regurgitate the same old gossip as every other tech/gadget site until you have concrete evidence.
Crave has become mind-dumbingly boring seeing as 90% of Apple related 'news' on your site turns out to be incorrect.

If these companies want to have a really successful phone, then they want to make that extra step to copying Apple and bring out a yearly, high-end device, rather than about twenty a month. Fair enough bring out lower-end versions too, but not so many.
People invest in iPhone because they know that it won't be upgraded for at least a year, and even then their current iPhone will still be great. The iPhone 4 is over a year old yet every phone these companies throw at us is compared to it.
Not one phone has overtaken the iPhone, maybe because they lack some of Apple's elegance or simplicity... or because they don't give their product a chance, updating their line with another phone with a different name: adding to the already vast line they have on offer.
I would be more inclined to buy the latest HTC Desire if the Sensation didn't proceed it shortly after :S

Im sorry guys but Samsung Galaxy S II is pretty FINE hand phone, much better than iphone! I myself SWITCHED from iphone to Andriod and im a developer myself. Iphone is just that shiny thing that every kid want to have without knowing what is better out there. everybody can have their own opinion but do not judge without give Andriod a test. (unless all you looking for is game to play on your phone then by all mean please carry on with you toy but do not call it phone!)

Samsung and galaxy are rubbish - android continually gives errors and if you buy another android device like the moto xoom no software works on it proving that android is doomed to fail hence all its patent purchases. I reckon google know android is doomed so it wants to make mney out of patents as apple and microsoft who are partners are currently dominating

Just look at revenues apple make more from apps then android blackberry and nokia put together becausr only retarded developers like iilhan develop for these rubbish platforms. A good developer know that they can make more money from a mediocor app on an iphone than a top selling app on android cos no one pays for android apps as they are rubbish

as i said before, you can have your opinion, we all can have....
but always remember, something with backbone is always better... Google may look that grows slower than apple but they actually developing stuff that make a difference in the world (Google maps, Google goggles etc) and i have no problem with being called rubbish developers, time will show you wrong....
when you could do more than change your background or time zone on iphone then come and talk!
